Ground breaks for new middle/high school addition by end of March; please note traffic flow modifications during construction
March 15, 2023
Wahoo Public Schools is excited to present and share the plans for the upcoming construction/renovation to take place in our buildings. Work will be done across campus, with a majority done at the middle school/high school building and site. On this webpage, we will share plans/renderings, updates, and pictures of progress on a regular basis. Initial earthwork is anticipated to start before the end of March, 2023, and completion of the project is anticipated to be December, 2024. Important aspects of the project include:
1) Additional classroom space along with three CTE lab areas
2) Breakout spaces for flexible learning and special education opportunities
3) Expanded cafeteria and service area
4) Additional parking
5) Renovated HVAC throughout all buildings
6) Additional gym space
This has been a project that has taken time to finalize, from securing financing to developing concepts to formalizing plans. As this project moves along, there may be slight modifications to what is shared initially, but they would be small in the relative scope.
Finally, the traffic flow on campus will need to be modified during this project. At the elementary school, any parents/guardians in passenger vehicles will be asked to only use the circle drive at the front entrance of the school for student pick up and drop off. Buses will have to pick up and drop off immediately north of the building. The road leading north from the elementary will be reserved for buses and construction traffic only. At the middle school/high school, we ask that no student pick up/drop off take place on the north side of the building except for bus traffic. That drive will be reserved for buses and construction traffic.

It is an exciting time at Wahoo Public Schools and we can’t wait for the opportunities this project will afford our students and patrons. If you should have any questions about the project, please contact the superintendent’s office for more information.
Sincerely,
Brandon Lavaley, Superintendent
