abovetheinfluence.com
This Web site is created for the National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign (a program of the Office of National Drug Control Policy). This campaign reflects what teens across the country have told us is going on in their lives.

Our goal is to help you stay above the influence. The more aware you are of the influences around you, the better prepared you will be to stand up to the pressures that keep you down. We're not telling you how to live your life, but are giving you another perspective and the latest facts. You need to make your own smart decisions.

You might even consider this Web site an influence. We know that you're very smart when it comes to the messages you see and hear. That's great and you should question us, too.

One way to do that is to review our sources. The numbers at the end of many of the facts are footnotes. You can click on them to find out where we got the information. We hope that this site helps you to be more aware of the influences around you, and that you carefully consider the risks when you're faced with tough decisions.

Grief's Journey - a center for grieving children & teens
347 N. 76th Street
Omaha, NE 68114
(402) 502-2773

Since 2001, Grief’s Journey, formerly Ted E. Bear Hollow, has been a welcoming, safe place where grieving children, teens, and adults find hope. Research indicates that unresolved grief correlates to issues such as poor school performance and emotional and behavioral concerns, whereas healthy coping leads to long-term success for the child, the family, and the community. As the region’s cornerstone for grief support, we provide free peer support programs as well as training, education, and consultation throughout Nebraska and Iowa. Grief’s Journey relies on charitable contributions, special event income, and volunteerism to support its free programs.

Mourning Hope

Mourning Hope is a grief support network for children, teens, young adults and their families who have experienced the serious illness or death of someone special to them. Support groups serve youth in kindergarten through young adults and their families. Mourning Hope is here to help when grieving the death of anyone significant in a child's life -- a parent, grandparent, sibling, aunt or uncle, or close friend.

Mourning Hope was founded in 1994 and is dedicated to providing emotional support for grieving youth and helping caregivers and the entire community understand the unique needs of grieving youth and families. Mourning Hope is funded by the generosity of our community and does not require payment for any services.

Your Life Your Voice
(Boys Town National Hotline)
The Boys Town National Hotline is a free hotline available to kids, teens and young adults at any time. We provide help when you need it most. Call, chat, text or email. ARRIVE

Absenteeism occurring by 6th grade is one of the biggest predictors of a youth dropping out of high school. Students who miss just 10% of school (2 days a month) struggle more academically than their peers. Chronic absenteeism is linked to poorer life outcomes. Attendance isn’t just about today, it’s about shaping the future of today’s youth. In Saunders County, the schools partner with a direct support service to provide early intervention to students struggling with attendance.

ARRIVE is an early intervention truancy reduction program centered around building transformative relationships with youth and their families. ARRIVE provides youth and families with a supportive framework to enhance protective factors that increase a youth’s success in the school setting. 100% of youth who successfully complete ARRIVE services do not have future system involvement or engage in criminal activity. The ARRIVE Coordinator is there as a support to you and your family to ensure your student has the resources needed to achieve his/her potential.

Download the ARRIVE brochure and other Saunders County youth resources.
