“GREASE” was the word….and one we’ll remember
Approximately 1800 people came to see the Wahoo High School production of “GREASE” performed by the music and drama department.
For many, it was an experience they will never forget and a great time was had by all. The weather was beautiful as people enjoyed the car show and hot dogs out in the parking lot, followed by a fantastic show.
Below is a video of the Friday, April 26 performance:
After the Friday and Sunday show, the 50’s soda shop, otherwise known as the “Wahoo Pop Shop,” was open for business as many enjoyed ice cream sundaes after the show. Many people expressed how impressed they were with the students’ performance and their level of professionalism, not to mention the live band, costumes and amazing set.
The whole event was a team effort as many parents, students and community members pitched in to help.
“There is no way I could have done all of this on my own,” stated Director Julie Baker-Anderson. “Without the help and support of my administration, assistant director Cherie Johnson as well as many parents, this all would have not been possible. It was just incredible to see our parents, students, staff and members of our community enjoying themselves. That is why we do this . . . it is all about the experience.”
Many people came to see the show more than once, and some came all three nights. There has been a buzz about the show throughout the community, and many are anxiously awaiting what is on the horizon for next year’s show.
“People are already asking me what we are doing next year,” Baker-Anderson said. “I am still trying to recover from this one! However, what I do know is that we set the bar high and attained that goal. We want to just keep doing what we are doing, keep improving and offer quality entertainment for our community and a valuable experience for our students. We are also so incredibly fortunate to now have a facility that makes it all possible. It’s all incredibly rewarding. It’s takes a lot of energy and can be exhausting, but it’s definitely worth it in the end!”
