Cast & Crew named to Nebraska's Top 10 list of "Outstanding Musical Theatre Production" and "Outstanding Ensemble"; Abramo awarded for "Outstanding Actor in a Lead Role"
In the words of Smash Mouth, "all that glitters is gold," and the performing arts programs at Wahoo High School have done a whole lot of "glittering" this year!
Congratulations to our 2018 WHS Shrek cast, crew and volunteers: recipients of a 2018 Nebraska High School Theatre Award, sponsored by Omaha Performing Arts!
From the Omaha Performing Arts website: The Nebraska High School Theatre Awards supports and celebrates musical theater education in Nebraska high schools. Culminating in a Tony Awards-inspired showcase, the program offers free master classes with Broadway teaching artitsts, feedback from performing arts professionals, free tickets to Broadway shows when available, performance and audition experiences, the chance to participate in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards in New York City and more."
2018 WHS Shrek Cast & Crew have been named both 2018 "Outstanding Musical Theatre Production" and "Outstanding Ensemble" by Omaha Performing Arts!
Wahoo High School's spring performance of "Shrek the Musical" has been judged to be among the Top 10 most "Outstanding Musical Theatre Productions" in the State! In addition, WHS was named among the Top 10 most "Outstanding Ensembles," and WHS senior Austin Abramo has been named among Nebraska's Top 10 "Outstanding Actors in a Lead Role" for his performance as Farquaad!
WHS Musical Directors Cherie Johnson and Hunter Boe were, needless to say, thrilled by the announcement!
"It took all of you to make this production one of the very best in the state of Nebraska," Johnson commented to the cast. "The talent and dedication from every single one of you took us to this level. Wahoo has much to celebrate in you and your efforts!"
Boe added, "I am just so proud of our kids and thrilled they have been chosen for this honor. I love that their hard work and talent are being validated in this way. Thank you and congratulations to everyone involved!"
The 2018 Awards Showcase will be on Friday, June 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Orpheum Theater in Omaha. Tickets are $10, and everyone is welcome to attend.
WHS senior Abramo has been named 2018 "Outstanding Actor in a Lead Role" by Omaha Performing Arts!
As part of this showcase, Abramo will be featured in a solo performance of the "Ballad of Farquaad."
In preparation for walking down the red carpet (yes, there is a red carpet!) on June 8, Abramo will spend five days on the campus of Creighton University, where he will rehearse and attend multiple masters classes with other award winners. In addition to his solo performance, Abramo and other attendees will perform together in a medley.
Congratulations Austin and the entire cast and crew for this outstanding accomplishment . . . a very appropriate way to end a very accomplished school year!
