Wahoo FCCLA hopes to bring awareness to suicide prevention
30 members to attend 9/15 Out of the Darkness Walk in Omaha
On Sunday, September 15, 30 members of the Wahoo High School Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) will be taking a walk.
This walk isn’t like any other; however, it’s a walk to bring awareness to suicide prevention at the Omaha 9th Annual Out of the Darkness Walk.
The Walk has been coordinated by a few of the students and their adviser, Mrs. Allison Kreifels. The chapter set a goal of having 30 students participate in the walk and to raise $600. Currently they have raised 25 percent of that goal.
“We have had a lot of people express interest, so we just want to encourage them to take the step and donate,” Kreifels said.
“This is an issue that is close to my heart and I want to support something as powerful as suicide prevention,” commented WHS junior Hannah Storm.
It’s not too late to donate! Please visit the chapter’s team page at:

From there you can choose what team member you want to donate in honor of, but all of the proceeds will go to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Each student that raises at least $150 will get a t-shirt at the event as well.
