WHS senior captures 1st place @ UNO Rated Open Chess Tournament!
Zach Clark tops the competition; Tyler Timm takes 3rd
Senior Zach Clark celebrated his 18th birthday by winning first place in the Under 800 Section of the UNO Rated Open Chess Tournament on Jan. 24!
Clark won four matches and lost only one on his way to capturing the title.
Junior Tyler Timm took third place in the same category with a record of three wins, one loss, and one draw.
Other students participating in the meet were Dalton Rademaker (two wins, two losses, and one draw), Jack Maass (two wins and three losses), and Josh Johnson (two wins and three losses).
The Wahoo Chess Club next competes at Boys Town on February 7, when the third graders compete in the Nebraska State Chess Association Team Championships.
The high school chess club will next compete when they return to UNO for another USCF meet in late February.
