WHS junior continues to impress with new school record USCF rating
Having "good moves" is a definite asset in the world athletics . . . in world of dancing . . . and in world of chess, and WHS junior Noah Polacek can move with the best of them!
Polacek was Wahoo’s only medalist at the Dec. 9 Nebraska State Chess Association Class Championship. Polacek captured the gold medal in the 1200 to 1399 class with an undefeated run through the tournament!
In the process of winning the state championship, Polacek raised his school record from a USCF rating of 1233 to a new personal high (and new school record) of 1303.
Other Wahoo participants in the tournament were Mat Wolf, Andrew Wolf, Marshall Elder, Isaac Privett, and Alex Tomjack.
The Wahoo High School Chess Club will compete at the UNO Rated Tournament on January 20. The Wahoo Elementary and Wahoo Middle School Chess Clubs will start practice after the holiday break as they prepare for a busy winter and spring schedule.
