COACH NICOLA'S SEASON RECAP
The 2020 Wahoo Cross Country Team ran a strong season despite the difficulties presented from illness to injury. Throughout the year the young team banded together to challenge the more senior competition in many meets. They look forward to getting back on the trail next year to finish what was started this year.
Leading the Pack
This year, the Wahoo team was led by junior runner Carson Reynolds. Reynolds placed five times individually throughout the season, including an impressive 8th place at a very tough Trailblazer Conference Meet. Reynolds looks to continue to build upon this year and come back next year even stronger.
Graber Ends with a Bang!
Throughout most the year junior Josh Graber was held back by sickness. Graber battled through the setbacks and pushed on through the meets he could run. He had his best time for the season at 17:57 during the District Meet, earning 15th place and a chance to compete in the State Meet. State was a challenge in itself, with temperatures dropping to 34 degrees. Graber was able to stay warm long enough to come in with an impressive time of 18:32.
Two of a Kind
Freshmen runners Kyler Elliot and Keegan Brigham both made varsity this year, with each posting times below 20 minutes. The duo competed all year and ended most races within less than a second of each other. The competition between these two will propel them to success in the future as they continue to push each other to achieve lower times.
Competitive Edge
The girls’ team was very competitive this year with all team members earning a varsity letter. There were many changes in the top six, due to the stiff competition and similar times. The top four girls all managed to achieve a seasonal personal best within 26 seconds of each other. The internal competition pushed them to make many gains that will aid them in next year’s season.
New Conference
This year was a first for Wahoo High School by joining a new conference. The cross country team saw an increase in competition and is looking forward to adding to the medal we took home from this year’s inaugural Trailblazer Conference Meet.
Senior Highlight
Harry Siebenaler was the lone senior on the team this year. This was the first year Harry ran cross country, and he was awarded the “Never Quit” award. This award is given to the runner on the team who continues to impress the coaches through all phases of training and competition. Siebenaler will be missed next year as he moves on from Wahoo High School.

This select group has obtained the lowest times through all competitions. The Top 10 award is given to the five best times of both boys and girls.
