The Excellence in Education Award for the 2024-2025 School Year continues through the Spring Semester!
Teachers work tirelessly to provide a safe, inspiring, and fun learning environment to make a difference in our children’s lives. Often, their efforts go unrecognized. Makovicka Sylliaasen Physical Therapy created the Excellence in Education Award to provide an avenue for providing recognition to those teachers who demonstrate a commitment to educational excellence.
About the Award:
✓ The Award: to be presented in early December 2024 and early May 2025.
✓ Nomination—parents, students, colleagues, and community members—can nominate.
✓ The teacher must be a full-time educator at a Wahoo or Saunders Catholic school (Wahoo Public Schools; Bishop Neumann HS, Saint Wenceslaus or St. John Nepomucene).
✓ One award will be given each semester.
✓ Committee comprised of two community leaders, two school principals, and staff from Makovicka Sylliaasen Physical Therapy will receive nominations and vote on winners
Award:
- Excellence in Education Certificate presented at the school (setting to be determined)
- Teacher receives a $550 check
- Teacher’s school receives a $200 check to be directed by the teacher
- Makovicka Sylliaasen ad in Wahoo newspaper highlighting Teacher of the Semester winner
- Makovicka Physical Therapy social media highlighting winner
Proposed Timeline 2024-2025 school year Spring Semester:
✓ Jan 20th—April 16th ~ Nominations accepted - Deadline: April 16th
✓ April 18th ~ Nomination forms to committee members with scoring rubric
✓ April 25th ~ Committee submits recommendations for winners
✓ May 2nd ~ School notified of winning teacher; plans made to present at school
