Borreson Wins Championship at Gretna Invite
WHS Golfer Takes the Title in Season's First Tournament
The Wahoo Golf Team traveled to Tiburon for their first tournament of the season. The team finished in 6th place with a team score of 358. The field was very competitive featuring many quality teams including Gretna, Skutt, DC West, and Elkhorn.
WHS Senior Jeff Borreson capped off a good day for the Warrior team, claiming an individual championship. Borreson’s 79 was a personal best in competitive high school play and was good enough to win by one stroke over the next competitor. Austin Watton finished with a solid 84, claiming 16th place, just 1 back from medaling. Four other golfers finished with an 84, but using the handicap method of determining place, Watton was left out of the final spot.
Wahoo resumes tourney play on April 2 at Country Pines Golf Club in Valley.
