WHS One Act Takes 3rd Place at 2010 Conference Competition
Four Students Receive Recognition for Outstanding Performances
What a fun show . . . Costumes worked well . . . Wait for audiences’ laughter . . . . Energy level is good . . . Exaggerate your gestures . . . I could tell you had fun with this . . .
These were some of the many comments offered by the judges regarding Wahoo’s performance at the One Act Conference competition held on November 22 at The Lofte in Manley.
Wahoo’s performance of “Scrooged Up” placed 3rd, receiving superior ratings from all three judges. In addition, four students received recognition for outstanding performances: Lindsay Luers, Evann Vrana, Matthew Spicka and Josh Dewberry.
On December 3 the cast and crew traveled to Seward High School for District competition. Wahoo placed 7th. We have a very tough District, but I still felt with the number of novice performers in our cast, we did a commendable job.
Luers, Vrana, Dewberry and Nathan Redding received outstanding performance awards from the judges, and overall Wahoo received two superior ratings and one excellent rating from the three judges.
“This year we had no place to practice except the pod area. Although, this is not an excuse, it definitely is a disadvantage when you have to compete on a large stage area at competition. This will not be the case anymore for Wahoo. I think we will appreciate the theatre even more after having to practice in the classroom and in the pod,” commented WHS Drama Director Diane Reece.
