SEASON WRAP-UP
The Wahoo Lady Warriors ended their 2016 volleyball season with a respectable 23-8 record.
“We are very proud of the girls,” stated Wahoo Head Volleyball Coach Trish Larson. “This team improved everyday in practice and became a very competitive team.”
Sophomore right side hitter Elly Larson led the Warrior attack with a new school record of 405 kills and 60 Aces. Outside attacker Maddie Larson added another 234 kills and a team-high 320 digs.
“Elly and Maddie are consistent hitters with very good ball control. They are both able to better the ball and come up with some keys plays,” Coach Larson commented.
Senior outside hitter Mallory Lindstrom contributed 226 kills, 47 aces and was second on the team in digs with 248.
“Mallory is very strong, explosive and is fearless in tight matches,” Coach Larson said.
Emma Hastings added 104 kills and 138 digs.
Coach Larson added, “Emma is always the hardest worker in the gym and has excelled in all areas of the court.”
Senior Maddie Mann added another 39 kills and a team-high 42 blocks.
“Our seniors have developed into some very well-rounded volleyball players who can play any position on the court,” said Coach Larson. “They also had excellent work ethic, were coachable, and outstanding leaders for this team.”
Junior setter Kinsley Tingelhoff ran the offense, ending the season with 862 assists.
“Kinsley did an excellent job quarterbacking our team,” commented Larson. “She has great hands and makes excellent decisions, making her one of the top setters in class C-1.”
Libero Morgan Marotz finished the season with 189 digs and 302 receptions.
“Morgan is an outstanding defender, out-of-system setter, and is our top server,” stated Coach Larson.
Allie Presley added 22 Aces, and was the team’s most accurate server.
“Seniors Mallory Lindstrom, Emma Hastings, Allie Presley, and Maddie Mann will be missed,” concluded Larson. “This team had great team chemistry and outstanding work ethic. The seniors were a big part of their success over the years. They end their career with 109-22 at Wahoo High.”
