FINAL SEASON MATCH RECORD: 35-2 (Set Record: 89-11)
The Wahoo Volleyball team ended their 2018 volleyball season with a 35-2 record, and made history again by becoming back-to-back State Champions!
“The girls played with a lot of heart throughout the season,” commented Head Coach Trish Larson. “We had excellent senior leadership and team unity, which helped us play at a really high level.”
Three Warriors led the way in kills. Freshman outside hitter Mya Larson led the Warrior attack with 438 kills. Senior Kyla Swanson added another 352 kills and 56 blocks. Senior outside hitter Elly Larson finished with 329 kills.
“These three are very consistent hitters with a variety of shots and a lot of power,” Coach Larson said.
Middle blocker Lillie Mann contributed 61 kills and 20 blocks, while Kelsie Sears contributed 91 kills.
“Lillie and Kelsie were key players on the team, adding more weapons and keeping the defense guessing.”
Sophomore setter Elle Glock ran the offense, ending the season with 1,133 assists for the year. This is also a C-1 State record for most assists in a season!
“Elle is a smooth setter who puts the ball right where it needs to be,” Coach Larson stated. “She is a very steady player who doesn’t get too emotional, making her a very consistent setter and one of the top setters in the state.”
Defensive specialist Lauren Kavan added 303 digs and led the team in aces with 50. Kendal Brigham added another 341 digs and 33 aces.
“Lauren was a huge threat at the service line, keeping teams out of system,” added Coach Larson. “Kendal and Lauren both did an excellent job defending the back court to keep the ball in play.”
“Winning State was a fairy-tale ending to our season. Our seniors have left a legacy, ending their career with a 120-17 record, three conference championships, and two state championships,” Larson concluded.
Congratulations Warrior Volleyball on another incredible season!
