Wahoo Public/Neumann Jointly Commemorate 2010 Veterans Day
Annual Assembly Honors Past & Present Veterans for Their Sacrifice
Wahoo High School recently commemorated Veterans Day on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 in a joint assembly with Bishop Neumann High School. The annual program, which was held in the Wahoo High School gym, was sponsored by Wahoo High School Student Council.
Over 20 veterans from the local American Legion and VFW were in attendance to help celebrate this important date. Nebraska VFW Commander Sam DeJohn delivered the Veterans Day message. Mr. DeJohn, a Vietnam War veteran, spoke about the importance of recognizing the sacrifice of our veterans past and present.
Members from the Wahoo High School and Bishop Neumann bands and choirs also joined in the celebration by performing renditions of “God Bless America” and “Salute to America’s Finest.” Once again, the joint music groups put on an impressive show for the nearly 800 people in attendance. This is the fourth year that both schools have joined together to commemorate and honor our veterans.
Wahoo High School is honored to hold this important assembly each year and looks forward to working with Bishop Neumann in the future.
