WHS & WMS Collect 3,046 Items in Food Drive
Student Council & FBLA Team Up to Stock Saunders County Food Pantry
This year the middle school and high school student councils and FBLA teamed up for Wahoo High School’s annual canned food drive, and in the process raised a lot of food for needy families in Saunders County!
Student Council and FBLA’s goal was to collect 2,000 cans, but the students and staff at the middle and high school well exceeded that goal raising 3,056 items! All items were donated to the Saunders County Food Pantry.
This year the middle school and high school competed with one another. The middle school easily won by bringing in 2,190 items, while the high school contributed 856 items.
At the high school, homerooms competed with one another to see which class could raise the most cans. For two weeks, students and staff members from each homeroom collected cans and reported their totals to StuCo and FBLA officers. A running tally was kept on a poster in the cafeteria.
When it is was all said and done, Ms. Stephani Ballagh’s homeroom finished first and won a pizza party for their homeroom in January.
Thank you to all who participated to make this event such a success.
