DISTRICTS

The 2019 NSAA District B-6 Baseball Tournament was played May 3-6 at Frerichs Field in Elkhorn.

              

The 2019 Warriors finished the season with a 13-5 record, and fell just short of making the State Tournament as a wild card. The number one and two seeds were both upset in districts and ended up getting the wild cards, leaving the Warriors the first team out.

The season as a whole was a successful one. The Warriors won the Capital Conference Tournament, beating Platteview in the championship game 9-8 in extra innings. They also won the regular season championship, going unbeaten in conference play. This senior class won both the tournament and regular season titles the last three years.

The junior varsity team finished with a winning record of 6-5, while the reserve team with a very young roster finished the year 4-12.

Wahoo/BN/LL lost 8-4 on Saturday’s district game against the Platte Valley Patriots. The Warriors scored four runs in the fifth inning. Tyler Blair and Trevin Luben each had RBIs in the frame.

Whitehead was on the pitcher's mound for Platte Valley. He lasted five innings, allowing six hits and four runs, while striking out three and walking one.

Jett Kmiecik led things off on the pitcher's mound for the Warriors. He went four innings, allowing six runs on seven hits, striking out five and walking one. Trey Ahrens threw three innings in relief.

Ahrens went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Warriors in hits.

Platte Valley tallied nine hits on the day. Lewis and Chase each racked up multiple hits for Platte Valley. Lewis led Platte Valley with three hits in four at bats.

Colby Bliss was bad news for opposing pitchers on Monday, driving in six on three hits to lead Wahoo/BN/LL past Platteview 12-11 on Monday. Bliss drove in runs on a home run in the second, a home run in the third, and a single in the seventh.

There was plenty of action on the basepaths, as the Warriors collected 11 hits and Platteview had 12 hits.

Platteview got things started in the first inning. An error scored one run for Platteview.

The Warriors knotted the game up at 11 in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Trey Ahrens singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Wahoo/BN/LL took the lead for good with zero runs in the fourth inning.

The Warriors scored five runs in the third inning. Andrew Lofgren, Nick Oden, and Bliss powered the big inning with RBIs.

The Trojans scored four runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught by Platteview was led by Caden Johnson and Gage Graham, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Ahrens got the win for the Warriors. He went three innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out one and walking one.

Jakob Richards was on the hill for Platteview. He allowed six hits and eight runs over three innings, striking out three. Nick Adkins threw three and a third innings in relief.

Nolan Sabatka started the game for the Warriors. He went four innings, allowing nine runs on nine hits, and striking out one

Wahoo/BN/LL smacked three home runs on the day. Bliss had a four bagger in the second and third innings. Lofgren had a homer in the second inning.

The Warriors racked up 11 hits on the day. Bliss, Lofgren, Oden, and Ahrens all had multiple hits. Bliss went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the team.

Platteview scattered 12 hits in the game. Adkins, Hunter Babe, Caden Mathewson, and Johnson each racked up multiple hits for the Trojans.

Jett Kmiecik threw a shutout to lead Wahoo/BN/LL past Arlington 7-0 on Friday.

The Warriors secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the first inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Andrew Lofgren, Luke Volin, and Kmiecik, and a double by Trey Ahrens.

The Warriors got on the board in the first inning when Ahrens doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

A single by Logan Kirk in the seventh inning was a positive for Arlington.

Kmiecik pitched the Warriors to victory. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over seven innings, striking out five and walking zero.

Braden Rump started the game for the Eagles. He lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing 11 hits and seven runs while striking out five and walking one. Zach Vanek threw one-third of an inning out of the bullpen.

The Warriors saw the ball well today, racking up 11 hits in the game. Ahrens, Volin, Colby Bliss, and Nick Oden all had multiple hits. Ahrens went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the team in hits.

Wahoo/BN/LL defeated Branched Oak 15-12 on Thursday after taking the lead late in the game. The Warriors were down 12-11 in the top of the seventh inning when Trey Ahrens singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Wahoo/BN/LL earned the victory despite allowing Branched Oak to score eight runs in the second inning. The Bucks’ big inning was driven by doubles by Mikey McCoy, Logan Black, and Rick Nickel, a walk by Lucas Buresh, and by Aiden Urbom.

Branched Oak opened up scoring in the second inning when McCoy doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring three runs.

Ahrens pitched the Warriors to victory. He surrendered two runs on six hits over five innings, striking out four and walking zero. Tanner Lebo threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Maclain Beach was on the mound for the Bucks. He allowed nine hits and eight runs over four innings, striking out two. Urbom threw three innings out of the bullpen.

Trevin Luben started the game for the Warriors. He went one inning, allowing five runs on two hits

The Warriors tallied 15 hits on the day. Colby Bliss, Karson Hesser, Ahrens, and Andrew Lofgren all collected multiple hits. Ahrens, Hesser, and Bliss each managed three hits to lead the team.

Branched Oak racked up 14 hits in the game. Nickel, McCoy, Black, and Urbom each racked up multiple hits.

Colby Bliss came to the ballpark and meant business on Tuesday, driving in four on two hits to lead Wahoo/BN/LL past Bennington 12-6 on Tuesday. Bliss drove in runs on a double in the second and a single in the sixth.

Both offenses were strong at the plate, as the Warriors collected 12 hits and Bennington 11 in the high-scoring affair

The Bennington Badgers opened up scoring in the first inning, when Colton Smith singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Karson Hesser was the winning pitcher for the Warriors. He lasted five innings, allowing ten hits and five runs, while striking out four. Jett Kmiecik threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Smith was on the hill for Bennington. He allowed seven hits and eight runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out six. Anthony Comfort threw four and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

The Warriors had 12 hits in the game. Hesser, Trey Ahrens, Bliss, and Nick Oden each collected multiple hits. Ahrens and Hesser each managed three hits to lead the team.

Bennington saw the ball well today, racking up 11 hits in the game. Jackson Martin and Rylan Wallingford all managed multiple hits for Bennington. Martin went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Badgers.

Wahoo/BN/LL fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 17-3 loss to Waverly on Monday. Waverly took the lead on a home run in the first inning.

The Warriors struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Waverly, giving up 17 runs.

The Vikings got things started in the first inning. Kozal drove in three when he homered.

Waverly scored nine runs in the fourth inning. Carter, Steinmeyer, Schroder, Kozal, and Brown, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Lanik led things off on the hill for Waverly. He surrendered one run on three hits over four innings, striking out six and walking one.

Collin Morrissey started the game for the Warriors. He allowed six hits and nine runs over three and a third innings, striking out three. Tanner Lebo threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Waverly hit two home runs on the day. Kozal homered in the first inning and Schroder in the fourth inning.

Colby Bliss went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the Warriors in hits.

Waverly had 13 hits in the game. Kozal led Waverly with three hits in five at bats. Steinmeyer led Waverly with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with ten stolen bases.

Jett Kmiecik was the winning pitcher for the Warriors. He allowed four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out five.

Wahoo/BN/LL defeated Platteview 9-8 on Monday thanks to a walk-off walk. The game was tied at eight with the Warriors batting in the bottom of the seventh when Trey Ahrens drew a walk, scoring one run.

The Warriors built a six-run lead in the fourth inning and then held off Platteview's charge. The Trojans scored six runs in the failed comeback on a single by Nick DeMonte, a single by Grant Thomas, an error, a single by Caden Mathewson, and a single by Sam Kennedy.

In the first inning, Platteview got their offense started when Mathewson doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

In the top of the sixth inning, Platteview tied things up at eight when Kennedy singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

Wahoo/BN/LL tallied seven runs in the fourth inning. The Warrior batters contributing to the big inning included Ahrens, Tyler Blair, Luke Volin, and Andrew Lofgren, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Ahrens was credited with the victory. He allowed five hits and six runs over two innings, walking one.

Caden Johnson toed the rubber for Platteview. He surrendered eight runs on four hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two. Nick Adkins threw two and a third innings in relief.

Wahoo/BN/LL defeated Douglas County West 12-0 on Tuesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Trey Ahrens induced a groundout from Nolan Chandler to finish off the game.

Karson Hesser collected four hits in five at bats to help lead the Warriors to victory. Hesser singled in the first and fourth innings, and knocked two singles in the sixth.

The Warriors fired up the offense in the first inning, when Hesser singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Wahoo/BN/LL put up seven runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Colby Bliss and Hesser, doubles by Tyler Blair and John Matulka, and by Luke Volin.

One bright spot for D.C. West was a single by Jett Work in the third inning.

Hesser got the win for the Warriors. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over four innings, striking out two and walking zero. Ahrens threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Work was on the hill for the Falcons. He surrendered four runs on two hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out five. Max Bruning and Ty Eggen entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and one-third innings and one inning respectively.

Hesser led the Warrriors with four hits in five at bats. Wahoo/BN/LL stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Bliss led the way with four. The Warriors were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Jett Kmiecik had the most chances in the field with four.

The Wahoo/BN/LL Warriors fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 7-2 loss to Skutt Catholic on Monday. Skutt Catholic got on the board in the second inning when an error scored one run.

The Skyhawks scored three runs in the third inning. The big inning for Skutt came thanks to triples by Ryan Double and Austin Oswald, and a single by Trevor Stevens.

Reilly Kirkpatrick got the start for Skutt Catholic. He lasted five innings, allowing six hits and two runs, while striking out ten.

Nolan Sabatka was on the mound for the Warriors. He lasted three innings, allowing six hits and five runs, while striking out three and walking zero. Collin Morrissey threw three innings in relief.

The Warriors collected seven hits. Tyler Blair and Colby Bliss each collected two hits to lead the team.

The Warriors watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 10-0 loss to Hastings on Thursday. Hastings took the lead on a passed ball in the first inning.

Wahoo/BN/LL struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Hastings, giving up ten runs.

One bright spot for the Warriors was a single by Karson Hesser in the first inning.

Sam Wibbels toed the rubber for Hastings. He lasted five innings, allowing two hits and zero runs, while striking out 12.

Jett Kmiecik led things off on the hill for Wahoo/BN/LL. He went three and two-thirds innings, allowing nine runs on eight hits and striking out one. Aaron Ickler threw two-thirds of an inning out of the bullpen.

Hesser and Andrew Lofgren all had one hit to lead the Warriors.

Hastings tallied eight hits. Connor Creech and Jackson Hoops all collected multiple hits for the Tigers. Hastings didn't commit a single error in the field. JT Cafferty had 12 chances in the field, the most on the team.

Tuesday's game against Roncalli Catholic was a heartbreaker for Wahoo/BN/LL, as they lost the lead late in an 11-9 defeat. The game was tied at 9-9, with Roncalli batting in the top of the ninth, when Dalton Bargo doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

Despite the loss, the Warriors did collect 11 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, the Crimson Pride had ten hits on the way to victory.

The Warriors fired up the offense in the first inning, when Tyler Blair doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring three runs.

Wahoo/BN/LL notched four runs in the third inning with Trevin Luben, Jett Kmiecik, Collin Morrissey, and Trey Ahrens all knocking in runs.

Roncalli scored six runs in the fifth inning. The big inning for the Pride came thanks to a walk by Cole Ryan, a single by Andrew McCoy, a home run by Alex Rodgers, and a fielder's choice by Nate Fitzpatrick.

McCoy got the start for Roncalli Catholic. He went two innings, allowing seven runs on five hits.

Karson Hesser started the game for Wahoo/BN/LL. He allowed seven hits and six runs over four innings, striking out three and walking one. Ahrens threw five innings in relief out of the bullpen.

The Warriors tallied 11 hits. Blair, Colby Bliss, and Hesser each had multiple hits. Bliss and Blair each managed three hits to lead the team. The Warriors tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Morrissey led the way with two.

Roncalli Catholic totaled ten hits in the game. Rodgers, Chase McKay, and Dave Mordeson all managed multiple hits for the Pride.

Wahoo/BN/L won the contest against Crete, 4-2

Nolan Sabatka led the Warriors to victory on the hill. He surrendered two runs on four hits over seven innings, striking out five and walking one.

Nate Hostetler was on the hill for Crete. He lasted three and a third innings, allowing two hits and four runs, while striking out six. Lucas Lenhoff and Nate Mensik entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.

The Warriors hit one home run on the day. Trey Ahrens put one out in the third inning.

Ahrens led Wahoo/BN/LL with two hits in three at bats. The Warriors didn't commit a single error in the field. Karson Hesser had the most chances in the field with ten.

Wahoo/Bishop Neumann/Lincoln Lutheran took Thursday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 4-3 walk-off victory over Nebraska City. The game was tied at three with the Warriors batting in the bottom of the eighth when Nolan Sabatka grounded out, scoring one run.

Nebraska City captured the lead in the second inning. Eli Southard hit into a fielder's choice, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Wahoo/BN/LL tied things up at three. The Warriors scored one run when Colby Bliss doubled.

After the Pioneers scored one run in the top of the third, the Warriors answered with one of their own. The Pioneers scored when Bryce Levy's sac fly scored one run for Nebraska City. The Warriors then answered when Luke Volin's sac fly scored one run.

Karson Hesser led the Warriors to victory on the pitcher's mound. He went three and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out one and walking zero.

Jacob Shannon led things off on the hill for the Pioneers. He lasted five innings, allowing four hits and three runs, while striking out three. Kassandra Holman threw two and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen.

Nick Oden started the game for the Warriors. He surrendered three runs on five hits over four and a third innings, striking out two.

Aaron Ickler went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Warriors in hits.

Wahoo/BN/LL nabbed the lead late in the game in a 10-6 victory over GACC/SS/WPB. The game was tied at six with the Warriors batting in the bottom of the fifth when Tanner Lebo drew a walk, scoring one run.

The Warriors earned the victory despite allowing the Patriots to score five runs in the fourth inning. Jared Minnick, Brendan Rief, and Mitchell Peatrowsky each drove in runs during the inning.

Lebo earned the victory on the hill for the Warriors. He lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out four and walking one. Andrew Lofgren threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Peatrowsky was on the pitcher's mound for GACC/SS/WPB. He went three innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out two. Rief, Reese Schlecht, and Blake Anderson each contributed in relief for the Patriots.

Collin Morrissey started the game for the Warriors. He surrendered one run on two hits over three innings, striking out two

The Warriors racked up eight hits on the day. Colby Bliss and Trey Ahrens all managed multiple hits. Bliss led the team with three hits in four at bats.

Anderson went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead GACC/SS/WB in hits. The Patriots were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Aaron Disher had the most chances in the field with six.

Both teams were strong on the hill Friday, but the Warriors defeated Wayne 2-1. Wahoo/BN/LL pitchers allowed just five hits to Wayne.

The Warriors pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Jett Kmiecik's sac fly scored one run and Tyler Blair singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Nolan Sabatka earned the victory on the mound for the Warriors. He went four and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on four hits and striking out four. Trey Ahrens threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Jacob Kniefl toed the rubber for Wayne. He lasted four innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out three. Trevor DeBoer threw two innings out of the bullpen.

Colby Bliss led the Warriors with two hits in three at bats.

Hagan Miller went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Wayne in hits.

Wahoo/Bishop Neumann/Lincoln Lutheran Baseball took the lead late and defeated Beatrice 10-6 on Monday.

The game was tied at six in the bottom of the 5th when Colin Ludvik's sac fly scored one run and allowed the Warriors to take the lead for good.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as the Warriors collected 12 hits and Beatrice 4 in the high-scoring affair.

The Warriors took an early lead in the first inning. Luke Volin singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

The Orangemen scored three runs in the second inning. Beatrice’s big bats were led by Griffen Vater and Will Reimer, all driving in runs in the inning.

Wahoo/BN/LL evened things up at six in the bottom of the 4th inning when Karson Hesser singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Hesser was the winning pitcher for the Warriors. He surrendered zero runs on zero hits over four innings, striking out ten of twelve hitters.

Qwin Zabokrtsky started the game for Beatrice. He surrendered six runs on seven hits over four innings, striking out three.

Nick Oden started the game for Wahoo/BN/LL. He allowed four hits and six runs over three innings, striking out four
