Green Eggs and Ham, Quite a Delight; Lots of Folks, What a Sight!
Wahoo Elementary Celebrates 10th Annual Breakfast in Memory of Dr. Seuss

Wahoo Elementary's 10th annual Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast held on March 5 had a record-breaking crowd in attendance. Many students and their families, as well as some honored guests, including Sheriff Kevin Stukenholtz and Senator Chris Langemeier, enjoyed this special breakfast sponsored by the PTO. Nearly 550 people joined in this memorable meal.
Launch the media gallery 2 playerThis year marks the 50th birthday of the Cat in the Hat. Cat in the Hat, as well as Thing 1 and Thing 2, visited with children and families during the breakfast. Many photos were taken with these wonderful story characters. Several families were lucky winners of door prizes of Dr. Seuss books, plush Dr. Seuss characters, Pizza Hut certificates, and balloons.

Dr. Suess may not have liked his green eggs and ham, but WPS parents and students, along with elementary faculty, enjoyed their green eggs and ham on March 5 when the Wahoo Elementary PTO hosted the tenth annual Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast in honor of Dr. Suess' birthday and to help promote how fun and important reading is.
Fifth grader Michaela Miller arrived at school at 7:15 a.m. and had the privilege of sitting next to State Senator Chris Langemeier. Along with Senator Langemeier, Sheriff Kevin Stukenholtz, Mayor Daryl Reitmajer and Wahoo Public Library employees Denise Lawver and Carrie Trutna also attended.
"I enjoy seeing parents' and children's interaction at breakfast," said Langemeier. This was his third year attending the breakfast.
Wahoo Elementary Principal Jane Wiebold helped at the front table, taking tickets and money and greeting everyone with a warm welcome and stickers.
"Even though we moved the date, the parents and students still made time to come and visit," said Wiebold.
"My favorite part about the breakfast is the meat," said second grader Jack Maass, who really enjoyed his special breakfast.
This year's breakfast set a new record with 546 people in attendance, including special guests Cat in the Hat, Thing 1, and Thing 2. The three volunteers, WHS students Erica Smith, Kelsey Luers, and Laura Houfek, arrived at the school at 6:00 a.m. to prepare themselves for the students with makeup and costumes.
Everyone was happy with the turnout, despite the rescheduled date.
