State SkillsUSA Contest Information
What is it?
The SkillsUSA Nebraska championships is the showcase for the best career and technical students in Nebraska. More than 1,200 people - including students, teachers and business partners - are expected to participate in the two-and-a-half day event. Students in skilled and technical science contests work against the clock and each other, proving their expertise in occupations like electronics, computer-aided drafting, precision machining, medical assisting and culinary arts.
Leadership contestants will demonstrate skills including extemporaneous speaking and conducting a meeting by parliamentary procedure. The competitions will be open to the public and free of charge. The philosophy of the Championships is to reward students for excellence, to involve industry in directly evaluating student performance and to keep training relevant to employers' needs.
Conference Eligibility
The State Leadership & Skills conference is open to advisors and students. To participate in the State conference as a student or advisor, you must be a SkillsUSA national and state member. Membership needs to be completed and fees received by the national office by February 10, 2010.
