WMS students attend March 20 SkillsUSA Conference @ Metro Community College
8th grade quiz bowl team takes 3rd!
The Middle School SkillsUSA conference was held on Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Metropolitan Community College South Campus in Omaha.
Wahoo entered 11 students into the competition. The students learned about the SkillsUSA organization and its benefits, as well as the other career student organizations (CSO's).
Tony Glenn, the state Skilled and Technical Sciences (STS) Director, discussed how business and industry works with SkillsUSA to help recruit talented young people to the workforce and how they have the advantage over other students who do not participate in SkillsUSA.
The students participated in Quiz Bowl, Technical Team Problem Solving, and Metric 500. The 8th grade Quiz Bowl team earned 3rd place, and Parker Barnes' finished 9th out of 32 entries in the Metric 500 competition.
All participants in the conference received a tour of the Metro CC campus, and learned about the options available to them through Metro Community College.
