Wahoo came ready one more time to take on Mitchell in their last game of the State Tournament, despite falling short of their ultimate goal.
Wahoo owned the tip off and attacked the rim. Free throws and a quick layup put the Warriors on the board. The Warrior defense soon smothered their opponents, causing 7 of 22 turnovers for the game. A score by Elle Glock soon ignited an 11-0 run. Mya Larson and Kendal Brigham soon locked in on back-to-back threes, and Kyla Swanson’s free throw and Hallie Reeves’ basket put Wahoo up 15-4. Elly Larson’s second steal of the game put Swanson back on the line, and ended the first period 16-4.
Mitchell came out the second quarter and took a 5-2 start on the Warriors in the first six possessions. Reeves’ back-to-back twos kept the Warriors in control. Wahoo's strong 1-3-1 stressed Mitchell's guards, and Swanson and the help kept Mitchell's power inside contained. It was Brigham's steal and assist to M. Larson that gave Wahoo a 22-11 advantage at the half.
Third quarter was a replica of the second quarter, with both teams playing solid defense and Wahoo keeping the lead. It was E. Larson’s assist to Glock that rang in the third three of the game for the Warriors. Soon two strong boards by Glock and Reeves gave opportunities to Swanson and Glock, ending the 3rd grace period 29-18.
The Warrior defense finally took a toll on their opponents, wiping out any glimmer of hope, and Wahoo's offensive production devastated the Tigers. Mitchell surrendered while Reeves, E. Larson, Swanson and Brigham combined for 17 more points. The Warriors ended their season 25-2, and took home the consolation third place championship trophy.
"I'm so proud of my girls and everything you've accomplished this season," commented Head Coach Linda Walker. "It's so difficult to come back after such a heartbreaking defeat and you showed it can be done!"

The Class C-1 semifinal Wahoo battle began at the Pinnacle Bank Arena at 10:45 a.m.
Wahoo won the tip, but Bishop Neumann took an early 5-0 lead after the Warriors were unable to take care of the ball and sink their free throws. Wahoo stayed poised through it all, and back-to-back welcomed threes by sisters Elly and Mya Larson helped calm the waters. It was Kyla Swanson's and-one that gave the Warriors a 9-7 lead after eight minutes of play.
Wahoo started strong the second quarter with Elle Glock's pull-up jumper, followed by Kendal Brigham's 3-pointer. Wahoo held a 7-point lead and their switching man-to-man defense forced Bishop Neumann to turn the ball over in 7 of 11 possessions. The Cavs held tight by sinking a 2-point basket and two free throws, but it was Glock and Brigham's back-to-back threes that brought the crowd up from their seats. Strong offensive board work by Brigham gave way for another basket before Reeves stole the ball at the buzzer. Wahoo entered halftime up by 9, 22-13.
A refocused Bishop Neumann came out with more grit in the third quarter, sinking back-to-back threes in the first two possessions, and drawing fouls to the line. Brigham's free throws and an offensive put back by Hallie Reeves tried to hang onto the lead, but another wide-open Cavalier three rang in. Thiele's drives and ability to draw the fouls put Wahoo at a disadvantage at the line, and led to 8 points. An offensive put back by Swanson and a three by Glock helped the Warriors survive, but another three by the Cavs put the Warriors down 31-33.
Wahoo once ahead by 9, now trailing by 2, came out with a big three by M. Larson to start the fourth quarter and make it an intense back-and-forth game. The lead changed hands seven times and was tied twice through the fourth. Swanson took to the line, hitting big free throws to tie the game with under a minute to go; however, a Warrior foul put the Cavs to the line, taking back the lead with 28.7 seconds left in the game. Sadly, the Warriors could not get the calls or no calls at the most crucial times late in the fourth quarter, and Bishop Neumann won the battle to move onto the championship game.
“This loss weighs heavy on our hearts and will for a long time," said Head Coach Linda Walker. "Congratulations to Bishop Neumann. You brought the grit the second half. Tomorrow's game will be a testimony of our character."

Wahoo captured defeat over Adams Central in the first round of the 2019 State Tournament.
The Warriors took an 11-0 start in the first seven possessions at the Bob Devaney Center on Thursday afternoon. Hallie Reeves put up 7 of her 11 points early, while Kendal Brigham and Kyla Swanson combined for the other 4. Wahoo's defense caused the Patriots to have a late offensive start. Elly Larson's assist to Swanson gave Wahoo a 13-4 lead after 8 minutes of play.
Open shots still would not fall for Wahoo, and turnovers began to happen while the Patriots capped three open threes and a two-pointer to get themselves back in the game. Two strong offensive boards allowed Swanson to break the ice, and a three by Elle Glock gave Wahoo some relief. The Patriots outscored the Warriors in the second period, 5-14; however, Wahoo took a three-point lead into the locker room at half time, 18-15.
Wahoo came out in the third, and defense held the Patriots to only another 4 points. An offensive put back by Swanson advanced the Warriors, and a welcomed three by Glock returned the advantage back to Wahoo. It was a defensive game for the most part, but the Warriors ended the quarter well with a two-point basket from Reeves and a three by Brigham. The Warriors took a nine-point lead to end the third quarter up, 28-19.
A steal by the Patriots and three-pointer started the final quarter for Adams Central; however, Wahoo answered the call with back-to-back scores from Brigham and Reeves. Wahoo's defense continued to disrupt Adams Central, forcing 4 of 19 game turnovers. E. Larson took to the line and sank one of two free throws, and Swanson scored the last two points. The Warriors took the win and advanced to the semifinal round against Bishop Neumann.
"We started strong and then faced adversity," said Head Coach Linda Walker. "Adams Central is a physical team and kept it tight. Our defense and strong boards were consistent and holding them to 24 points is a great job!"

Congratulations Warrior Girls Basketball on qualifying for the 2019 State Tournament with Thursday's 54-37 win over Chase County in the C1-3 District Final!
Wahoo took on Chase County in the C-3 District Finals a day early, due to bad weather, at Kearney High School. The Warriors captured the victory, 54-37, and punched their ticket to State.
Wahoo and Chase County were quick to knock down their first scores of the game. Kyla Swanson sank the first basket of the night, followed by Kendal Brigham's three-pointer; however, turnovers and few scores slowed both teams and ended the first quarter with Wahoo trailing by 1.
Elle Glock took the reins in the second quarter, connecting on 10 of her 12 points for the game. Glock drove the lane twice for four and drained the three, while the Longhorns kept the advantage by hitting four twos of their own. Back-to-back threes by Brigham and Glock fueled Wahoo, but the Longhorns drained a three of their own to keep the game close. A keen steal and score by Hallie Reeves and a Brigham layup and free throw sent the Warriors into half time up by 5, 24-19.
The Warriors came out of halftime and pushed the five-point lead to ten. A Reeves steal and score set the tone for the 3rd period. An offensive rebound and assist by Reeves to Brigham opened a nine-point lead. Chase County’s best player was left unattended and drained the trey to lessen the gap. Glock's steal and Elly Larson's assist to Brigham fired back the three. The Longhorns took to the line twice and sank four of four free throws, and grabbed another wide-open three. Reeves and Brigham scored once more and the Warriors ended the third period up 39-29.
Another steal by Reeves took her to the line for two after being fouled. Wahoo's defense continued to disrupt any rhythm the Longhorns tried to establish, and Wahoo pushed into a comfortable 20-point lead. Brigham, Reeves and Larson combined for 13 points. Chase County was able to score the last three points on the board, but Wahoo took a 54-37 victory to earn the trip to Lincoln.
"Early turnovers made it hard to get into the flow," said Head Coach Linda Walker. "It was just a matter of time and we ended up outscoring the Longhorns 48-30 in three."

Warrior Girls unable to overcome game-long deficits in C1-4 Subdistrict Final loss to Bishop Neumann

Bishop Neumann's strong 16-7 first quarter performance and resilience gave Wahoo its first season loss in the C1-4 Subdistrict final on Feb. 14.
The Cavaliers took the tip and scored right off the bat with a wide-open three to start the night. Soon Wahoo responded back with a three by Elly Larson, followed by a dribble drive by Kendal Brigham. Wahoo took a 5-3 lead, but never led again. The Cavaliers came with full charge, and Wahoo didn't have an answer. Wahoo’s unproductive offense and lacking defensive effort allowed 13 unanswered points. Brigham was able to muster two free throws, and Wahoo was left down 7-16 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was about as bad of a nightmare as the first, but now both teams struggled to get points on the board. A Cavalier steal and score began the second period. Wahoo did a lot of watching and a lot of lopipop passes that came with no energy. Brigham did find her way to the basket and Hallie Reeves finished on an offensive rebound and two free throws. Wahoo took to the locker room, down 13-22, to regroup and find their game.
Reeves sank two of two free throws to begin the third period, closing the gap for a split moment. Wahoo's defense was still not getting the job done, and Neumann hit on back-to-back twos to expand the lead once more. Finally some sense of urgency amped the Warriors, and movement on offense opened up the shots. Brigham hit two back-to-back threes to open the gate, but defense broke down again, leaving Thiele open at the three. Wahoo fired back though with an Elle Glock three and an offensive put back, leaving Wahoo trailing by 6. Brigham fired the three once again and a spark ignited. Once again, Thiele was left open and drained another three. Neumann continued answering and kept a 5-point lead heading into the final period.
The first two possessions haunted the Warriors as the Cavaliers hit their foul free throws and drained their seventh three of the game, taking a 10-point lead once again. Thank goodness Wahoo didn't cave in and finally found their intensity in movement and attack. A steal by Larson fueled Glock to sink two of two free throws, followed by Brigham's two free throws. Ball movement and a strong take to the rim by Reeves followed suit.
Hope for the Warriors to pull off the win was in sight as Reeves found Kyla Swanson at the basket and brought the game within four. On the next possession Wahoo got the defense to shift, and Brigham found Reeves posted up strong, squeezing the gap to two. Time was ticking and the Cavaliers would take to the foul line once again. Wahoo kept their cool and Brigham's determination on the inbounds gave Wahoo one last chance, down by two. A quick timeout was called with a few seconds to go. Wahoo tried to deny the ball out, but was forced to foul and didn't get that last opportunity. Wahoo falls to defeat, 42-46.
"We didn't get the effort or fight in us until fourth quarter, and this was very disappointing," said Head Coach Linda Walker. "I can only hope that this loss will ignite our fire."

Wahoo breezed through the first round of Subdistricts against David City, 67-21.
A steal and score by Hallie Reeves began first round of subdistricts in Schuyler, NE. Elle Glock's three, and Kyla Swanson and Kendal Brigham’s twos, gave Wahoo a 9-2 lead. The Warrior defensive pressure stunned the Scouts, forcing 15 turnovers in 18 possessions. The last seven possessions blew it open, beginning with a steal and score by Reeves, perfect free throws by Elly Larson, and a top-of-key three by Mya Larson. Reeves took confidence twice at the three-point line and finished on another steal, giving Wahoo a 24-4 first quarter performance.
Swanson took to the foul line early, sinking two for two, while David City hit the three on the next play. A steal by E. Larson sent Reeves to the basket. The Scouts were shut down again, while Wahoo expanded its lead. A rim shot and an and-one by Swanson, followed by E. Larson's three, put Wahoo up 36-7. Defense kept disrupting David City, and a Brigham lay-up, Jaci Schnakenberg's curl to the rim, and E. Larson's elbow shot just added to the Scouts’ frustration. Glock put the finishing touches on the half with Wahoo up 44-9.
Wahoo came out of halftime and picked up where they left off, with a rim finish by Swanson, a two by E. Larson, and a Brigham three-pointer. The Scouts were able to connect three times, but once again Swanson, Brigham and Reeves combined for the 8 remaining points of the quarter. The running quarter ended, 59-15.
Starters sat and Wahoo's bench took over the last eight minutes of play. A strong basket by Schnakenberg and a strong take by Toni Greenfield to the basket increased Wahoo’s lead to 63-21. Speedy Kharissa Eddie stole the ball and showed her explosiveness to the rim, while Taylor Luben closed out the night at the charity line, giving Wahoo the 67-21 victory.

The Wahoo Warriors closed out the regular season undefeated 21-0, the best in Wahoo girls’ basketball history.
The night began with a JV victory over the Malcolm Clippers, ending their regular season 16-0. A special tribute honoring the seniors and their parents set the stage for a great night ahead.
The Warriors had their work cut out for them with an aggressive Malcolm team, and hot shooting from the arch. Kyla Swanson crashed on the offensive boards, giving Wahoo their first 4 points of the game. The Clippers moved the ball well against Wahoo’s 1-3-1 and sank three threes. With Elly Glock’s baseline three, another Swanson basket and Kendal Brigham’s layup and two free throws, the quarter ended 13 all.
Wahoo found a little more grit in the second quarter, but still wasn’t playing with solidarity. Two more Malcolm players hit threes, and the Warriors turned to their man-to-man defense. The change in defense generated some energy. Elly Larson’s 12-footer and Glock’s layup kick-started Wahoo. Soon a steal by Jaci Schnakenberg spurred Hallie Reeves to the basket and a 4-point Warrior lead. Malcolm answered with two free throws; however, Larson’s assist to Reeves sent the Warriors to the locker room up 26-22.
Wahoo came out once again in man-to-man defense, shutting down all but a three and single free throw in the third quarter. Wahoo answered on seven of ten possessions. The run began with Reeves’ assist to Glock. Malcolm had no answer for 6’4” Swanson, as Schnakenberg and Glock fed her the ball. Reeves and Brigham’s strong rebounds made sure to not allow second opportunities, and each finished at the rim, giving Wahoo a comfortable lead, 40-26.
A sweet drive by Brigham, a swish three by E. Larson and Reeves’ perfect free throws sparked a 16-10 fourth quarter performance. Malcolm did try to gain some momentum, hitting back-to-back threes, but an and-one by Reeves, steals and twos by E. Larson, Swanson and Reeves would allow no such thing.
Wahoo took the victory, 56-36, and ended its regular season undefeated.
“I could tell we were a bit off on our game in the first half,” said Head Coach Linda Walker. “The girls came together, played smart man-to-man defense and finished. Malcolm had no answer for Swanson tonight.”

Wahoo earned the rights to be named the Capitol Conference seasonal champions against the Arlington Eagles, 63-41.
Wahoo opened the gates once again against the Eagles with a 19-4 performance in quarter one. An assist by Elle Glock to Hallie Reeves began the night, followed by Kyla Swanson’s 7-point production. A nothing-but-net three and 2-point shot by Glock put the Warriors up 14-2 in 9 possessions. Wahoo’s defense forced 7 of 18 Eagle turnovers, and Wahoo’s precision passes propelled Swanson to finish on 12 of her game-high 20 points.
The Warriors continued to play with extreme control and super teamwork throughout the second quarter. Glock’s drive and perfect lob conversion to Swanson fueled an 18-3 explosion. A steal and quick pass to Reeves led to coast-to-coast scores, followed by a drive and score by Glock. Reeves’ back-to-back scores and two 3’s by Glock and Mya Larson put Wahoo up 37-13. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Reeves scored again, giving her 10 of 15 for the game. Wahoo didn’t stop there, as Swanson was fouled on the shot twice, sinking four of four free throws. Wahoo extended the lead 41-10.
A determined Arlington Eagles team ignited in the third period, attacking with man-to-man defense and jumping the passing lanes. Wahoo did score on the first 3 points of the quarter, but the Eagles’ pursuit was aggressive, and the Warriors failed to respond many times. Arlington took a 15-3 stand, forcing Wahoo to a time out and a game plan change. Wahoo finally matched the energy with man defense late in the quarter, taking back the momentum. Wahoo ended the third quarter up, 50-25.
Wahoo was back on track to start the final period, hitting on the first six of seven possessions. Reeves and Swanson shared an assist and scores, while Glock finished two for two at the charity line. Next, Kendal Brigham found the slip to the basket, finishing on back-to-back layups before the starters exited the floor. Arlington kept their power in until the end against Wahoo’s youth. Free throws by Mya Larson and Alyssa Luedtke gave Wahoo a 63-41 final, and granted the Warriors a 7-0 record against Conference foes.
“Our teamwork and execution in the first half was exciting,” said Head Coach Linda Walker. “It’s hard to beat a good team twice in a week, and I’m super proud of my girls.”

Wahoo’s strong defense was a key factor to the Capitol Conference crown against the Syracuse Rockets Saturday night on Warrior territory.
Wahoo jumped to a 7-0 start with key baskets from Kyla Swanson, Hallie Reeves and a baseline three from Elle Glock. Soon Elly Larson and Reeves’ finished products would merit Syracuse to take a timeout, down 11-2. The Rockets regrouped and soon hit the three. A steal by Jaci Schnakenberg and Mya Larson’s assist to Swanson added doubt, but Syracuse continued to fight back with an offensive put back and top-of-the-key three. It was another Glock three that gave Wahoo a 16-10 lead after eight minutes of play.
The offensive production was slim in the second quarter, but Wahoo’s defense stayed consistently strong. The Warriors’ 1-3-1 defense forced Syracuse to 15 of 26 game turnovers in two periods of play. Reeves and Brigham fueled Swanson to finish on back-to-back scores and take a 10-point lead. The Warriors slowed a bit after turning the ball over three of four possessions, but Kendal Brigham picked up the pace by jumping the pass and finishing on the layup. Reeves then finished on two-for-two free throws, entering half up 24-14.
Wahoo refueled and the defense held strong, holding Syracuse to another single digit quarter. Brigham jumped the passing lane once again and went coast-to-coast to begin the third period. E. Larson followed suit on the next play, stealing the ball and answering on two foul free throws. Wahoo expanded its lead to 14. It would take the Rockets six possessions to connect on the shot. In the meantime Brigham anticipated another pass and finished coast-to-coast. The Rockets were able to hit back-to-back two-point plays, but three for four free throws by Swanson and two baskets by Reeves pushed Wahoo’s lead to 19.
More turnovers and few scoring opportunities continued to plague the Rockets in the fourth, and Wahoo’s consistency remained the same. Scores by E. Larson, Glock, Swanson and Brigham sent the starters to the bench for the night. Lillie Mann and Katie Borchers would then add the remaining two points on the board, to give Wahoo the 2019 Capitol Conference Crown with a final score of 47-26.
“We put out a lot of good energy on the court this week,” commented Head Coach Linda Walker. “I’m super proud of these girls, and what a well deserved Championship win.”

It took a minute for Wahoo to take flight, but when they did, they soared to a 44-7 first half performance against the Arlington Eagles in the semifinal round of the Conference Tournament.
Kyla Swanson’s offensive board kick out to Kendal Brigham hit nothing but net. Brigham followed seconds later with a steal and layup that ignited the Warrior intensity on defense. Wahoo forced 8 of 26 turnovers and finished on three. Arlington scored on the offensive rebound; however, Swanson canceled it at the foul line and sank two.
The last five of six possessions took the Warriors to another level. Brigham led with another three, followed by a Hallie Reeves’ steal and Jaci Schnakenberg basket. Elly Larson sank the right side trey, and Reeves’ keen hands speared a steal and score on the next play. Reeves would clean up the quarter with another score, 19-4.
A three by Mya Larson propelled a 25-3 second quarter. Wahoo’s inside game began to catch on fire. Reeves found Swanson for two. The Warrior defense continued to swarm the Eagles, forcing 12 more turnovers. Brigham and Swanson sank three of four free throws before another scoring frenzy took off. A basket by Swanson, followed by Brigham’s third three gave Wahoo a 32-6 lead. Reeves would finish on 8 of her 14 game-high points on three savvy steals, and Kyla Swanson would take care of the remainder. Arlington scored only 1 more point to enter halftime down 44-7.
Elle Glock and Reeves’ baskets would put the running clock in motion early in the third. Arlington was forced into four more mishaps, and the Warriors took a 48-7 lead. Wahoo’s bench took to the court to finish the quarter. A three by the Eagles ignited some positive offensive production, and Wahoo would be outscored 6-4. Wahoo entered the final eight minutes with a 48-13 lead.
The clock ticked quickly, and there were very few dead balls in the fourth quarter. The Arlington Eagles fired up the intensity and went on a mission to make the game presentable. Wahoo lost some momentum late in the third, and it festered into the final minutes of play. Arlington outscored the Warriors 12-5 in the final period, but the first-half devastation remained the same. Wahoo advanced to the Championship with a 53-25 victory.
“The girls played so solid in the first half,” said Head Coach Linda Walker. “We will face Arlington again, and I’d like to see four quarters strong.”

The first round of the Capitol Conference Tournament began a day late due to icy weather, but a day off didn’t bother the Warriors as they produced a 50-7 first-half performance against the D.C. West Falcons.
D.C. West was consumed by the Warrior defense. A three by Kendal Brigham, two steals and scores by Hallie Reeves, and steal by Kyla Swanson set the tone for a huge offensive night. Swanson hit on the next possession, followed by Elle Glock’s 3-pointer. Two and three offensive rebounds per possession allowed Swanson to cap on 6 more points before a new line took over.
It didn’t matter who was in. Kharissa Eddie ran the floor and finished on the power layup. Steals by Mya Larson and Eddie soon spurred scores by Kelsie Sears and M. Larson. Jaci Schnakenberg’s 2-point basket would take the Warriors to 26. Glock and Swanson cleaned up the quarter with a bucket each to record a 34-4 performance.
Wahoo’s defense stayed strong, forcing a total of 23 of 34 turnovers for the game. Swanson began a 16-1 quest in the second quarter. A steal by Sears fed Elly Larson for two. A strong board and score by Eddie, and Brigham’s spot-on pass to Lillie Mann gave Wahoo 42. D.C. West was only able to connect on one free throw, while Brigham, Glock and Swanson put the clock into running form to start the second half, 50-7.
Wahoo’s nucleus continued to be mixed up in the second half, but stayed strong through the third period. A three by Schnakenberg and twos by M. Larson, Swanson, Katie Borchers, E. Larson, and Eddie gave no relief for the Falcons. After 24 minutes Wahoo lead 63-11.
The clock continued to tick and the fourth quarter was a slow 4-2 production. Wahoo took the win 67-13, and advanced to the NCC semifinals against the Arlington Eagles.
“I was a little concerned about what kind of energy we would put out tonight, having just recently played D.C. West,” commented Head Coach Linda Walker. “Our first half demonstrated that I had nothing to worry about.”

The Wahoo Warriors marched to a 61-42 victory over Norfolk Catholic Knights.
Wahoo had the answer for 11 of 14 possessions in the first grace period. Kendal Brigham and Elly Larson combined for 19 of Wahoo’s 24 points. Brigham sank the corner three, followed by a steal by E. Larson that led Brigham to the line for two. A steal by Jaci Schnakenberg fueled Hallie Reeves to sink 1 of 2. Soon Elle Glock, Kyla Swanson and E. Larson were on the board. Wahoo continued to roll with exciting back-to-back threes by Brigham and E. Larson. Brigham split the gap and finished at the rim to give Wahoo a 24-6 lead.
The Knights sank the trey to begin the second grace period; however, back-to-back baskets by Swanson and Glock canceled any advancement. As a precaution Swanson was sidelined the rest of the game after hitting her head on the floor. It took a Warrior timeout to regroup. Schnakenberg began the next run, followed by a showcase of threes by Glock and E. Larson. The Knights produced a high 16 points for the quarter; however, another basket by Schnakenberg, Glock’s and-one, and combined free throws by Mya Larson and Reeves gave Wahoo a substantial lead, 45-22.
Norfolk Catholic seemed to come out of half time with a little more fire than Wahoo, finishing on an offensive board and outscoring Wahoo 14-12. Glock soon came through with a drive and finish at the rim. Norfolk Catholic answered back with a 2-point basket, followed by a three. The gap was too large to fill, and soon two baskets by Brigham and Schnakenberg would fall. The Knights continued their offensive quest, but Glock and Kelsie Sears would not disappoint, draining a three each late in the quarter. Wahoo headed into the final period up 57-36.
The production on offense was far and few in the fourth quarter, and both teams combined for 10 total points. Wahoo’s rhythm was muddled with 6 of 13 turnovers for the game. The lone 4 points of the quarter would come from a Brigham three, and a single free throw by Katie Borchers. Despite a quiet second half, Wahoo took a solid win, 61-42.
“We shot the ball really well in the first half,” said Head Coach Linda Walker. “I’m not sure where our grit disappeared to in the last 16 minutes, but sometimes that happens.”

A dominating first quarter performance propelled a 64-36 Warrior victory over Raymond Central Tuesday night.
Wahoo took control of the game early. Back-to-back scores by Hallie Reeves and Elly Larson began the night. An assist and steal by Elle Glock gave way to another basket by Reeves and E. Larson.
Wahoo’s defense forced the Mustangs to 9 of 25 mishaps in the first eight minutes of play. Free throws by Kendal Brigham and Glock, and three more baskets by Reeves, provided the 14-0 early run. Kyla Swanson cleaned up with the last 4 points, giving Wahoo an 18-2 lead.
The Warriors continued to halt the Mustangs, producing a 19-10 quarter and forcing 10 more turnovers. A left side trey by E. Larson cashed in the first 3-pointer, followed by a steal and score by Brigham. E. Larson’s steal and Reeves’ assist to Swanson stretched the margin, 25-2. Four Warrior turnovers in a row changed the course of Warrior play, but Reeves got it rolling again with a layup and three made free throws. Swanson and Kharissa Eddie combined for two of three free throws down the stretch, and Glock sank the second three of the game. Finally, Mya Larson’s steal and score gave Wahoo a comfortable 37-12 lead at the half.
Missed shots briefly slowed the Warriors in the third, and Mustangs found success at the 3-point area, hitting 4 of 7 threes. Two offensive rebounds finally gave way to a Brigham 2-point basket and two for two free throws by Glock. E. Larson took the reins this time and finished on three paint shots, giving her a game-high 13 points in three quarters. A sweet three by Glock and a layup by M. Larson boosted Wahoo 52-27.
The fourth quarter reins were handed to Swanson, where she sank 8 of her game-high 15 points. Katie Borchers finished on the give and go, and Lillie Mann sank the deuce. Wahoo took another Conference win against Raymond Central, 64-36.
“We play really well at times and also played uneasy, turning the ball over too many times,” said Head Coach Linda Walker. “We need to keep challenging ourselves in practice and games to keep strong. “

Wahoo began with two turnovers against D.C. West Saturday afternoon. Coach Walker’s deliberate timeout resulted in the Warriors delivering a 54-8 first half.
The Warriors came out of the huddle and exploded on the Falcons. A lay up by Hallie Reeves, followed by baskets from Elly Larson and Kyla Swanson, put the Warriors in motion. Wahoo’s 1-3-1 defense smothered the Falcons, forcing 14 of 33 turnovers for the game. Kendal Brigham sank her first three, and an assist from E. Larson to Swanson put Wahoo up 12-3.
Wahoo continued to dominate with an assist by Jaci Schnakenberg to Reeves. After two offensive boards, E. Larson finished on an and-one and then drained the three. Brigham cleaned up the quarter by sinking the last shot with little time remaining, giving Wahoo a 23-3 first quarter performance.
A new line took to the floor to start the second quarter. Kelsi Sears’ assist to Kharissa Eddie ignited the 31-5 quarter. Soon a steal by Schnakenberg found Mya Larson open down court for the layup. Brigham sank her second three on the next change of possession, and a steal by E. Larson fueled two-for-two free throws by Reeves. The Falcons were able to sink a three and 2-point basket, but the Warriors continued to roll with 14 players entering the game. Lillie Mann would end an eight-possession scoring frenzy with a three of her own. Katie Borchers’ perfect free throws and an offensive put back by Eddie ended the half, 54-8.
The third quarter began with a running clock and different combinations of players. A baseline runner and a diagonal cut with a quick ball reversal would isolate E. Larson at the block for a wide open power lay up. Wahoo’s combination of teams showed no signs of weakness. Swanson even tried her luck at the three, but could not make it count. Wahoo outscored D.C. West 16-7.
Starters took to the bench for the remainder of the night after the third quarter. Without any hesitation, M. Larson released the top-of-the-key three to begin another dominating quarter. Sears soon sank the sweet middle shot, while Eddie, Alyssa Luedtke and 4 more points from Sears finalized the night. Wahoo took the win, 83-19.
“We tried to put different combinations of players out on the floor, giving balanced minutes. The girls really played well with each other,” said Head Coach Linda Walker.

A dominating 21-4 second quarter gave Wahoo a 32-14 advantage at halftime, paving the way to a 55-37 victory over Conference opponent Platteview.
First period was a battle between the Warriors and Trojans. Platteview led 6-5 through six possessions of play. Kendal Brigham’s lay up and three pointer kick-started Wahoo. Soon a steal and score by Elle Glock and a basket by Kyla Swanson speared a 9-6 lead. Hallie Reeves sank two free throws to give Wahoo a 1-point lead, 11-10.
A change in defensive strategy by the Warriors boosted the energy level on the floor. Wahoo scored on 10 of 13 possessions, igniting a 21-4 offensive production. An assist by Elly Larson to Reeves started the pursuit. Reeves took to the line and sank her free throws, followed by a backcourt steal by Swanson. Swanson put in the next 6 points, and a basket from Reeves put Wahoo up 23-10. Wahoo gained more momentum with a precision pass by Brigham to Jaci Schnakenberg. Brigham sank two foul shots, followed by Glock’s nothing-but-net baseline three. Platteview’s only connections were a three and single free throw. The half ended with a powerful Schnakenberg steal and score at the rim. Wahoo takes the lead, 32-14.
Platteview came out of halftime outscoring Wahoo 9-13; however, it wasn’t enough to regain any serious advantage over the Warriors. Combined free throws by Brigham, Swanson and E. Larson, and a basket each by Schnakenberg and Swanson, kept Wahoo leading the way, ending the third period 41-27.
Wahoo took care of business once again, outscoring Platteview 10-1 in the first six possessions of the fourth quarter. It was early scores from Swanson, Glock and Brigham that fueled the run. Platteview did not stop playing and connected on back-to back scores. A basket each by Katie Borchers and Lillie Mann gave Wahoo the final points, 55-37.
“Our man-to-man defense did the job against Platteview,” commented Head Coach Linda Walker. “Our second quarter performance put the game in our hands.”

Wahoo’s defense swarmed the Monarchs and produced a 17-2 run early in the first nine possessions of play. Mercy was forced to 9 of 23 turnovers, and scored just enough to keep the game in perspective. Wahoo’s quick transition layups and inside post play were dominating this quarter, and scores from Hallie Reeves, Kyla Swanson, Elle Glock, and Elly Larson’s and-one put Wahoo up 19-8.
Wahoo took the pressure off in the full court, but the Warriors continued to own the paint. Swanson continued to finish on offense, connecting on 16 of her game-high 26 for the game. Mercy connected on three 3’s to have just enough to keep the game interesting.
Wahoo lead at half, 34-18.
The second half began with a Swanson rim shot, followed by a 12-foot jump shot by Reeves. A rotation of 14 players entered the game early and played out the half. Wahoo shot cold from outside the paint, but the inside game continued to roll. Reeves, E. Larson and Kharissa Eddie were the only three Warriors to connect from outside the paint; however, it didn’t matter and Wahoo took a 48-28 lead to end the third quarter.
It was a quiet fourth quarter as Wahoo outscored Mercy 9-3. Glock’s and-one finish and baskets by Reeves, Swanson and Eddie finalized the game, 57-31.
“The perimeter shots were far and few tonight, and Mercy was able to cause some turbulence with their defense,” said Head Coach Linda Walker. “We did finish well at the rim.”

Wahoo turned it up a notch in the second half to outlast Crete, 54-51.
Wahoo began the night on fire from the three, taking an early 9-2 lead. Elle Glock ran baseline and sank her first three of the game. Back-to-back threes from Hallie Reeves and Kendal Brigham merited a Crete timeout.
Crete activated their ability at the arch for the rest of the quarter, with Creighton recruit Morgan Maly swishing two of the four made. Steals and scores by Reeves and Kyla Swanson, and Glock’s baseline power drive continued Wahoo’s pursuit. A two by Reeves and a free throw by Swanson gave Wahoo an 18-14 lead after eight minutes of play.
The Crete Cardinals powered up in the second quarter, outscoring the Wahoo Warriors 16-6. The only points for the Warriors came from a second three-pointer by Glock, and 3 of 4 free throws by Elly Larson and Reeves. Wahoo’s intensity on defense failed to contain Crete’s power, and their inconsistent scoring this quarter put the Warriors in unfamiliar territory. Wahoo trailed at the half, 24-30.
Wahoo made some serious adjustments in the locker room, and set the tone for the second half. The Warriors moved the game into a full court exhibition, with man-to-man and a little 1-3-1. The Warriors were back on track, slowing their opponents. Brigham stroked the arch three perfect times, and Reeves picked the ball and went coast to coast. Wahoo started to pound the ball inside, hitting E. Larson for an and-one play. Wahoo outscored Crete 16-4, ending the grace period up 40-34.
The Fourth quarter was intense and gave the fans their money’s worth. E. Larson mustered two back-to-back scores in the paint, and Brigham dribbling out-foxed Crete’s defense, finishing at the rim. The third three by Glock and a finished rim shot by Swanson gave Wahoo the small cushion they needed. Crete closed the gap with three treys, a deuce and four free throws, but would not surrender until the bitter end. The clock favored the Warriors and with Reeves’ final score, the Crete Cardinals would take defeat. Wahoo rolled to a sweet victory, 54-51.
“We worked hard to get this victory today,” said Head Coach Linda Walker. “We dug deep at half and came out strong!”

The Wahoo Warriors launched a 54-39 home victory over the Syracuse Rockets to begin their quest in 2019.
A steal by Hallie Reeves fueled an and-one play by Kyla Swanson. The Rockets turned the ball over three times before answering on back-to-back scores. Free throws and a basket by Reeves gave Wahoo a 7-4 advantage. Wahoo’s Elly Larson, Elle Glock and Swanson combined for the remaining 9 points. Wahoo’s defense made it difficult to score, and ended the quarter 16-5.
Syracuse broke in the second quarter with a steal and quick score. Reeves answered back with her own steal and score, followed by a wing three by Glock. The Rockets found some light and began to close the gap, but a 2-pointer by Mya Larson and a Glock steal and score boosted a 25-12 advantage. The Rockets gained some momentum, hitting on three of the last possessions and outscoring the Warriors 14-12. Reeves’ and-one gave Wahoo a final half time score, 28-19.
Wahoo came out with a beastly attack, sinking three 3’s, a deuce and 3 of 4 free throws. A three and layup by Reeves, threes in a row by E. Larson, Glock and Kendal Brigham smashed any Rocket hope. Free throws by Reeves and Swanson and a layup by Brigham summed up the third period, 47-29.
The Rockets did outscore the Warriors in the final quarter, 10-7, but could not make up the devastation of the first and third periods. Brigham went on to sink the final three of the game, and Swanson’s steal and and-one brought the bench to the floor. Wahoo took the Conference victory, 54-39.
“We played really well at times tonight,” said Head Coach Linda Walker. “Syracuse has a nice team, and I’m sure we will see them again.”

Wahoo claimed the championship victory over Seward in the Wahoo Holiday Tournament, 58-36.
The Warriors took a 4-point lead after eight minutes of play. A steal and score by Hallie Reeves set the tone for the night. The Warriors’ defensive strategy also proved to disrupt Seward’s dominating dual. The Bluejays hit two in row midway through the period, but an offensive put back by Kyla Swanson and a three by Mya Larson killed the momentum. It was Elly Larson’s and-one play that favored the home team 11-7.
E. Larson surprised the fans, but not the team, and nailed the wing 3-pointer. Reeves then drove the baseline and put in the floater. A 15-7 lead merited a time out by the Bluejays. Seward hit on the next play, but a steal by M. Larson and E. Larson fueled scores by Swanson and Reeves. Foul trouble put one of Seward’s powerhouses on the bench. The rest of the half Wahoo finished on 4 of 6 free throws to give Wahoo a comfortable 24-13 lead heading into half time.
Seward found a little spark early in the third quarter, but Wahoo was on, and connected on 8 of 13 possessions. The Wahoo defense continued to dominate. Kendal Brigham’s court awareness against Seward’s press was keen. Reeves scored in numerous ways this quarter, claiming 14 of her game-high 25 points. Brigham and Swanson combined for the remaining 4 points and every Warrior was point on. Wahoo blew the game wide open, 43-24.
The trio of Reeves, Brigham and E. Larson produced a 6-0 run to start the fourth quarter, too much to take. Without hesitation Coach Trvdy surrendered, and put in his bench. Another Warrior trio of Kelsie Sears, Kharissa Eddie and Toni Greenfield scored the final 9 points of the game, and Wahoo claimed the victory.
Wahoo took a solid 58-36 win over Class B Seward, and is crowned Holiday Champs!
“I’m so proud of the girls,” commented Head Coach Linda Walker. “We played so well as a team and our attention to details was key.”

No amount of snow would keep the Lexington Minutemen from traveling to Wahoo for their first-time appearance at the Wahoo Holiday Tournament. Wahoo marched to a 58-33 victory and advanced to the Holiday Tournament finals.
Lexington put up the first 2 points of the game, but Hallie Reeves’ corner three opened the gates for the Warriors. Elle Glock’s steal and assist to Reeves revved the Warriors’ defense, causing the Minutemen to turn the ball over five times in a row. Reeves sank another corner three, and Kyla Swanson’s offensive put back generated more momentum. Wahoo widened the gap with a baseline Glock three, followed by an Elly Larson power layup and a coast-to-coast finish by Jaci Schnakenberg. Wahoo lead 17-4 after eight minutes of action.
Wahoo’s defense continued to cause havoc for Lexington, forcing 7 more turnovers of 26 for the game. A layup by Reeves and an offensive put back gave the Warriors a 21- 7 lead after 7 possessions. Lexington’s post play came alive for six; however, E. Larson’s two-point basket and three, along with a Kendal Brigham free throw and Swanson two-pointer, gave Wahoo a 29-13 advantage at half time.
An early quarter steal by Schnakenberg and an assist to Reeves began the third period. It would take five more possessions before Kelsie Sears sank the trey. Free throws by Reeves and Schnakenberg and an offensive put back would propel a 21-point Warrior lead. Soon Swanson and Brigham accounted for the last 6 points to end the third 45-22.
A switch to a 2-3 defense appeared to give Wahoo an early surge. Swanson’s assist to Reeves led to an and-one finish, and three consecutive steals fueled scores by Brigham, Swanson and Reeves. Wahoo’s bench was called in early to finish the final quarter. A three by Janisa Gronenthal and Kharissa Eddie’s two-pointer closed the game 58-33, and advanced the Warriors to the championship game.
“We played a bit inconsistently tonight against new opponent Lexington,” said Head Coach Linda Walker. “Tomorrow, we’ll need our A game for the Seward Bluejays.”

The Wahoo Warriors controlled the Lincoln Lutheran Warriors Tuesday night from the tip to the final buzzer.
Kyla Swanson’s controlled tip led to a dribble drive floater by Hallie Reeves, followed by a corner three-pointer by Elle Glock. Wahoo was out to a 5-0 lead before Lutheran connected on an offensive rebound. Kendal Brigham hit next, while a Reeves’ steal gave way to a layup by Glock. Reeves cleaned up the quarter with back-to-back scores, ending the period up 13-4.
Elly Larson found the short corner to be wide open and drilled the baseline shot. Lutheran sank their first of five threes for the night. Wahoo’s keen shooting gave no relief to the other Warrior team. Swanson, Reeves, and Brigham went on to combine for the next 11 calculated points. Lincoln Lutheran continued to turn the ball over, but was able to put 16 points on the board this quarter. It wasn’t enough. A steal and assist from Mya Larson to Glock, and a left-side trey by M. Larson sparked a 22-16 second quarter. Swanson cleaned up the 35-30 half with perfect free throws and a give-and-go lay up.
Wahoo came out to the third quarter with precision, taking an early 6-0 run. Wahoo’s 1-3-1 continued to storm the court. By now Lutheran had turned the ball over 18 times. E. Larson found the smooth release and scored 7 of her game-high 13 points this quarter. With no time to spare, a confident E. Larson stroked the baseline three at the buzzer, fueling a 17-10 third quarter performance.
Wahoo headed into the final grace period up 52-30. Before the starters took to the bench, a Reeves’ steal and assist to Swanson put the Warriors in motion. Feeling confident once more at the arch was E. Larson, sinking her second three of the night. A two-pointer by Kharissa Eddie and a Janisa Gronenthal three closed the night. The Wahoo Warriors took the win, final 64-41.

Wahoo Warriors dominated the Fort Calhoun Pioneers Friday night, with a final score of 68-14.
Wahoo’s defense struck hard, forcing the Pioneers to turn the ball over 10 of 28 times. Combined steals by Elle Glock, Hallie Reeves, Kyla Swanson, Elly Larson, and Kendal Brigham produced only 5 points; however, the last 8 possessions was dynamite. Glock’s three, Swanson's three paint shots, E. Larson’s 15-foot elbow, and sister Mya’s free throw all propelled a 21-7 performance.
Brigham’s keen eye and accurate full-court pass led E. Larson to catch and finish on a perfect stride lay up to start the second quarter. Reeves’ steal and a Brigham assist to Swanson fueled a devastating attack that soon took hold and brought all 14 players into the game. The Pioneers would go scoreless for the next 7 possessions while Brigham, E. Larson, Reeves, M. Larson, Jaci Schnakenberg, Janisa Gronenthal and Kelsie Sears put a combined 14 points on the board. Wahoo entered the half up 41-10.
After two minutes of play to start the second half, Wahoo’s starters took the bench, and the subs began taking over the game. Wahoo’s half-court defense forced 9 more turnovers, and the running clock was put into effect. Wahoo connected on 11 of 12 possessions this quarter, and the Warrior bench played solidly, subbing 5 in and 5 out. Ft. Calhoun was held to just a single point in the third period, and Wahoo entered the fourth quarter up 62-11.
A new starting line up took to the floor in the fourth quarter; however, Wahoo’s defense was so solid that it held the Pioneers to just 3 free throws. Kharissa Eddie, Schnakenberg and Alyssa Luedtke combined the final tallies on the board. Warriors took the win, with a final score of 68-14.
“We were able to play a lot of girls tonight,” said Head Coach Linda Walker. “Each team that took the floor played well.”

In-and-out perimeter shooting created a different Warrior game plan; however, Wahoo prevailed with driving force to take a 45-41 victory over the 5-0 Louisville Lions.
Hallie Reeves found Elle Glock on a baseline to begin the night. Several possessions later Kendal Brigham fed Kyla Swanson and Reeves to end the first 8 minutes of play with Wahoo trailing 6-7. Wahoo’s defense held them in the game, forcing 5 of 17 turnovers this quarter alone.
A Swanson steal led Reeves to finish and take the lead 8-7. A free throw and two-point basket gave the pride back to the Lions. Wahoo reacted with a five-possession trio of productivity led by Reeves, Glock and Brigham. Reeves would score two more times, and a Brigham free throw advanced Wahoo to the locker room up 23-19.
The Louisville Lions roared back and outscored the Warriors 11-9 in the third grace period. It was a Glock lay up, power dribble drives and product by Reeves, and Swanson’s three of four free throws that gave Wahoo a slim advantage at the end of the third quarter, 32-30.
Wahoo stepped their game up early on in the fourth. Reeves’ two lay ups, Brigham’s perfect free throws, and the only outside-of-the-paint shot by Elly Larson gave Wahoo a comfortable 40-32 lead; however, the reverse Reeves’ layup and Brigham’s assist to Swanson produced the largest lead of the game for the Warriors, 44-33.
Louisville called a timeout and made its last attempts, answering on two three’s and a last second layup, but it didn’t matter and Wahoo took the win 45-41.
“This was a good win for us and it didn’t matter how the points were scored,” said Head Coach Linda Walker. “We found a way to win and showed another side of this unique team.”

Congratulations Hallie Reeves on 1,000 career points!
Wahoo came out with rock and fire Friday night on the Wayne Blue Devil court and ran to a 21-6 first quarter performance. A skip pass to Elle Glock cashed in on the first of 11 made three’s for the night (Kendal Brigham leading the pack, making an impressive 7 of 9). An offensive put back by Elly Larson and free throws by Brigham wrapped the quarter up.
The Blue Devils could not get any offensive rhythm with Wahoo’s 1-3-1. The Warriors continued to strike solidly at the basket. A steal by Glock to Hallie Reeves began the crusade, followed by a three by Brigham. Wahoo forced 5 defensive turnovers before Wayne could connect. A baseline three by Reeves and a power drive toward baseline fed Kyla Swanson the ball. Reeves scored 9 of her 18 points this quarter, ending the half up 38-15.
Wahoo came out a bit sluggish after halftime, but revved up on both ends of the court after the first couple of minutes. Wayne hit two three’s and then went severely cold before Wahoo scored on the next 11 of 13 possessions. Swanson and Reeves combined for 13 points this quarter, and Brigham added her sixth trey from the right side baseline. A steal and score by E. Larson and Glock’s two-pointer from the left wing put Wahoo up 59-21.
The Warriors remained on fire. Three consecutive three’s by Janisa Gronenthal, Brigham’s 7th, and Kelsie Sears added to the Blue Devils’ scoreless battle since early in the third. Reeves began closing in on her 1000th career point after a steal by Brigham and an assist by E. Larson. Finally, with a reversible layup, Reeves joined the 1,000 point club, and brought the fans out of their seats with signs and cheers!

“We played some great basketball tonight and kept Wayne scoreless for over 13 minutes the second half,” said Head Coach Linda Walker. “Congrats to Hallie on her 1000th career point! Keep it going!”

Wahoo cruised to a 62-20 win against Ashland-Greenwood Tuesday night.
Perfect free throws by Kendal Brigham and Kyla Swanson and rim shots forced Ashland to take an early timeout. Wahoo continued their attack, forcing 7 of 28 turnovers in the first 8 minutes and expanding the lead. Three steals by Hallie Reeves took the Bluejays out of their game, and Elle Glock’s mid-lane floater sank.
Wahoo’s strong rebounding and quick transition found Reeves for the layup. Glock’s steal and Jaci Schnakenberg’s assist to Elly Larson widened the gap; however, it was Glock’s three at the corner baseline that ended the 1st period of play, up 19-3.
Wahoo lit it up early in the second quarter. A three-pointer and layup by Brigham ignited a six-possession devastation. Steals by Mya Larson, Brigham and Schnakenberg fed Reeves and Swanson for a combined 6 points. A second trey by Brigham put the Warriors up 33-3. Ashland was forced to take another timeout and change their defensive strategy. The Bluejays’ 3-2 caused the young Warrior group on the floor to get out of some rhythm, but with keen precision, Reeves hit speedy Brigham for the transition layup and they were back in action.
Wahoo forced another 10 turnovers this quarter, and a steal by E. Larson fed Schnakenberg for the half, outscoring Ashland 37-8.
A Brigham assist to Kyla Swanson began the second half. The Bluejays were able to connect at the basket, but the Warriors continued to dominate the court, hitting on 8 of 13 possessions and causing disruption in the half court set. Two more steals by Schnakenberg and M. Larson, which fed into a sister score, and two more free throws gave Wahoo a 52-16 lead.
With continued running clock, the Bluejays were ready to call it a game. A three by Kelsie Sears and a free throw by Janisa Gronenthal put the final points on the board. Wahoo wins 62-20!
“Our length caused a lot of havoc for the Bluejays tonight,” commented Head Coach Linda Walker. “The girls did a good job transitioning and executing half court offense when needed.”

Wahoo took charge of the Aurora Huskies Friday night on their home court, 53-18.
It happened to be a slow start that led to domination. Hallie Reeves’ steal off the press fed Elle Glock the first basket of the night. Reeves then drove baseline on the next offensive possession and found Kyla Swanson in the lane. Things started to flow as Kendal Brigham maneuvered her way to the rim and finished on an and-one play. The Huskies made one of two free throws this quarter, and Reeves sank the last 2 points to give Wahoo a 9-1 lead.
An offensive put back by Swanson, threes by Glock and Brigham and a power move by Elly Larson gave Wahoo a 16- point lead. Wahoo’s strong defense forced the Huskies to 18 turnovers this half, and held Aurora to just 3 points. One of one free throws by Swanson and Jaci Schnakenberg, and another 3-pointer sunk by Glock ended the half, 24-3.
Wahoo came out to the third quarter and smothered the Huskies with their half court 1-3-1. Wahoo scored big on 7 of their 13 possessions. A steal by Brigham eventually led to Glock’s third 3-pointer of the night. Soon to follow were two back-to-back steals while Brigham and Glock assisted each other. Reeves turned the dial up, putting the next 4 points on the board, and her steal fed Schnakenberg to finish on an and-one play; however, it was Glock’s final long-range trey that put the icing on the quarter, 41-11.
Aurora hit back-to-back shots to start the fourth quarter; however, scores by Brigham, foul free throws by Swanson and a 2-pointer by Glock continued the devastation and ended the game for our starters. The bench took over and continued to play with high energy. Janisa Gronenthal hit the baseline 18-footer, while Lillie Mann scored at the rim. It was Katie Borchers’ final two points that closed the night, with a 53-18 final.

Wahoo took the tip and an immediate three by Elle Glock rang in the new season!
Kendal Brigham’s layup and an and-one play by Kyla Swanson put Wahoo up 7-0. The Badgers’ keen transition game and quick and precise passes to open players sank 5 unanswered points. Glock scored on a floater mid lane, but Bennington was now on a mission, scoring at the short corner baseline. An offensive put back by Swanson and a free throw tied the game after 8 minutes, 13-13.
The Warriors took the lead by two with a Glock steal and assist to Hallie Reeves to start the second quarter. Five missed Warrior threes in a row and shot fouls reduced Wahoo’s mojo. Bennington hit only two of four free throws, but followed it up with a two-point conversion. Wahoo’s defense forced four consecutive Badger turnovers, and Brigham was able to connect three times, adding 6 more points for the Warriors. Wahoo held a 4-point lead at half, 21-17.
Third quarter started off well, with Swanson and Elly Larson sinking their paint shots, but the Badgers had more mojo on offense and no turnovers throughout the quarter. A cold nine possessions ended with a free throw from Brigham and an E. Larson assist to Glock. Bennington took the lead 32-28 to start the fourth quarter.
Wahoo’s defense and offense finally came together, and the Warriors outscored the Badgers 17-11. Swanson scored 9 of her game-high 17 points this quarter, and pulled 15 boards for the game, while the Warriors hit seven of eight free throws down the stretch.
“We were struggling to get back on defense and shot the ball poorly early on,” said Head Coach Linda Walker. “Bennington is a much improved team, and I’m proud of our fight to get the job done in the fourth quarter.”
