Kindergarten Class Uses Technology to Enhance Pen Pal Experience
Students Skype with Other Students in St. Joseph, MO
Students in Mrs. Gregg’s kindergarten class are taking pen pals to a whole new level!
We have asked a St. Joseph, Missouri kindergarten class to be our “Skype Pals!” Their teacher, Mrs. Hamilton, went to college with Mrs. Gregg at Peru State College.
“Skype gives my students the opportunity to visit with friends outside of our community. This allows them to learn how to communicate, ask questions, answering questions and be able to hold a conversation via video phone. My students look forward to visiting with Mrs. Gregg's class every week. They enjoy learning what her class is doing and learning,” Mrs. Hamilton stated.
We Skype once a week with our friends in St. Joseph. Last week we took turns introducing ourselves to our new friends. This was a wonderful opportunity to work on social skills.
This week, since we are learning about the letter B, they taught us the song and actions to "We’re Going on a Bear Hunt," and we taught them our favorite beginning sounds song "Who Let the Letters Out?"
Using technology in the classroom is one of the great ways to learn, both as a teacher and
as a student!
