Wahoo Elementary 5th Graders Attend Presentation on Soldiers’ Duties in Afghanistan
Local Soldier Shares Experiences Before Re-Deployment
On Tuesday November 23, the 5th graders at Wahoo Elementary welcomed CW3 Michael Harrell to speak about his experiences and duties performed while serving in Afghanistan.
CW3 Harrell explained to the kids the details of guarding a military prison at Bagram Air Force Base and the day-to-day responsibilities that he and his company are in charge of.
Along with the prison, CW3 Harrell also showed students the living quarters, mess hall, fitness facility, kitchen, and various buildings around the base at which he is stationed.
“It was great to see what all goes on overseas. It makes you grateful for the things that these soldiers do for our country,” said Kim Thrasher, 5th grade teacher at Wahoo Elementary.
Harrell was deployed on Sunday, November 28 to Fort Bliss, Texas for further training, and then will make his way to serve a tour of duty at Bagram Air Force Base.
