Tierney Gensler was 1-2

This was a close game up until the 5th inning. Our bats came alive a little bit and Aubrey turned up the heat on her pitching. Great team win to start conference.

Game 2

Wahoo    12
Raymond Central    0 (3-Inning Game)

Game 3 (Championship Game)

Wahoo    5
Bennington    1

Leading Hitters:
Paige Otte was 2-3 with 3 RBI
Morgan Hancock, Mattie Murren, and Tierney Gensler were all 1-3 with hits in crucial times.

Winning pitcher was Aubrey Voboril. She pitched a fantastic game. She kept them guessing at the plate as to which pitch was coming next. Her change up worked like dynamite. She came away with 2 strikeouts, but lots of ground balls too.

This was an awesome team win. We had girls in the line-up 1-9 come up with key at bats. Defensively we made some incredible plays as well. This was one of the best games we have put on the field thus far. Bennington is a great team and it is quite an accomplishment to get a win against them.

The fourth inning we scored four runs to really open the game up. Mattie Murren started the inning with a base hit, Morgan Hancock walked, Aubrey Voboril sacrifice bunted them over to 2nd and 3rd, Sydney Hancock hit a sacrifice fly to score one of those runs. Then Sadie Murren walked to put runners on 2nd and 3rd and Paige Otte came through with a huge double to score those 2 runs. Then Tierney Gensler hit a base hit to score Paige Otte. After this the team had all the confidence in the world and played great.

THIS WAS OUR 3RD STRAIGHT CAPITOL CONFERENCE CROWN, WHICH IS QUITE AN ACCOMPLISHMENT BECAUSE WE HAVE A VERY COMPETITIVE CONFERENCE. WAY TO GO WARRIORS!

As a team we had 13 hits. We did strand quite a few base runners on base; however, we are starting to hit the ball a lot better as a team. This was a great weekend for us not giving up a single run!

Thursday, September 10 @ Syracuse

Wahoo    3
Syracuse    2 (11-Inning Game)

Leading Hitters:
Morgan Hancock was 2-4 with 2 triples and an RBI
Sydney Hancock was 2-4 with a double and one RBI
Sadie Murren was 1-3 with a double and an RBI

Aubrey Voboril got the 11-inning win. In those 11 innings she had 10 strikeouts and NO walks. She allowed 8 hits.

WOW what a game. Syracuse scored its first run in the first inning on an error. We responded in the 6th inning with a score on Morgan Hancock's triple. At the end of 7 it was 1-1. Each team battled in the 8th, 9th, and 10th, and could not execute on the bunt, hit, and score. It was a defensive and pitching dual. Aubrey had some key strikeouts in huge situations. Michaela Lanik also had 2 huge catches in right field to keep the game going! In the top of the 11th, Mattie Murren started on 2nd base, Morgan Hancock tripled to score her and then Sadie Murren hit a double to score Morgan. This gave us the lead 3-1 going into the bottom of the 11th. Syracuse started off that inning with a pair of hits, so they had runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. We managed to work out of the jam by only giving up one run and winning the game. We had lost 2 close ones to great teams earlier this season so getting this one was very big for our team.

Tuesday, September 8 @ Bennington

Wahoo    0
Bennington    1

Leading Hitters:
Sydney Hancock had our only hit of the game in the 7th inning going 1 for 3.

Aubrey Voboril took the loss on the mound. She pitched a great game. She had 3 strikeouts and only allowed 6 hits to a very talented Bennington club. Our defense did a great job backing her up defensively. We had a lot of key outs when they had base runners in scoring position.

This was a hard fought battle until the end. Bennington scored their one and only run in the 1st inning and then it was a defensive and pitching battle until the end. They are a great team and we gave them everything we had. As a team we had too many strikeouts. We need to do a better job of putting the ball in play to make their defense work.

Tuesday, September 8 @ Bennington

Wahoo    4
Raymond Central    2

Leading Hitters:
Sarah Chvatal was 2-4 with 1 RBI
Tierney Gensler was 1-2

Aubrey Voboril was the winning pitcher on the mound. She allowed 6 hits and had 2 strikeouts.

Raymond Central is a much-improved team and we had to play a very good game to get this win.

Saturday, September 5 @ Wahoo

Game # 1
Wahoo    2
Ashland-Greenwood    1

Leading Hitters:
Mattie Murren was 1-2
Sydney Hancock was 1-2 with a solo home run shot in the 4th

Winning pitcher was Aubrey Voboril. She had 12 strikeouts, no walks, and gave up 4 base hits. Her pitches were working well, especially her change-up!

Launch the media gallery 2 player

We missed out on a big scoring opportunity in the 1st inning. We had bases loaded with no outs and were only able to push one across. We need to do a better job of capitalizing on those situations. The only other run we scored was the solo home run from Sydney Hancock. The Ashland pitcher did a nice job of hitting corners. We played a nice solid defensive game.

Game #2
Wahoo    0
Yutan/Mead    4
    (9 inning game!)

Leading Hitters:
Mattie Murren, Morgan Hancock, and Aubrey Voboril were all 1-4.  The Yutan pitcher had 13 strikeouts and did a good job keeping us off the bases. She has a great pitch that moves nicely.

Aubrey Voboril took her first loss of the season on the mound. She had 3 strikeouts, 2 walks, and gave up 7 hits. Four of those 7 hits came in the 9th inning. This was a great pitcher and defensive battle! Voboril was on her 16th inning of great pitching and ran a little short on gas at the end. We also had a couple errors in the 9th that did not help her.

This was a fantastic game for us early in the season. I believe it is two pretty evenly matched teams that played a heck of a game. We made some huge defensive plays in the 7th and 8th innings to get out of some sticky situations. In the top of the 7th inning Yutan had runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs and to the plate came their 5 hitter. She hit a grounder to Sadie Murren at 2nd who flipped to Sydney Hancock covering 2nd, who then threw to Morgan Hancock at 1st for the double play.

The next batter struck out to get us out of that inning. We had lots of adrenaline coming in, but could not capitalize. The 8th inning was very similar.  We made some huge defensive plays to get out of the inning, not letting the runner on 2nd score, and then we could not push that one across either.

I was proud of the fight and heart my girls showed and we feel this game will only help us down the stretch.

Tuesday, September 1
Wahoo    6
Wahoo Neumann    0

Leading Hitters:
Morgan Hancock 2-4 with 2 RBI
Sadie Murren 2-4 with an RBI
Alicia Iversen 1-1 with 2 RBI

Winning Pitcher was Aubrey Voboril. She had 8 strikeouts, 1 walk and gave up only 2 hits. She pitched a very strong game for us on the mound. When the ball was put in play she had a solid defense behind her to make the play.

Offensively the game turned around for us in the 4th inning. Voboril led off the inning with a double, Sydney Hancock had a sacrifice bunt to move her to third, Sadie Murren followed with a base hit RBI, Sarah Chvatal walked, and then freshman Alicia Iversen came in as a pinch hitter and hit a single to score the other two base runners.

Leading hitters:
Paige Otte was 3-3 with a stolen base and a double
Sarah Chvatal was 2-3

We ended the game with 9 hits and stranded 7 base runners. We need to get a little bit better about bringing those base runners in. We cannot leave that many. Defensively we played solidly again with no errors. Aubrey Voboril also pitched a very nice game. She had 8 strikeouts, no walks, and only allowed 3 hits.
