2022 SEASON RECORD: 29-4
SEASON SUMMARY (by Coach Trina Christen)
The Wahoo Warrior Softball Team ended the season with a record of 29-4, and a trip to the Class B State Softball Tournament. In regular season conference play they finished 6-0. The Warriors won The Freeman Tournament, The Syracuse Tournament, TheWahoo Quad, and The District Tournament. Winning the District Tournament qualified them for the State Tournament, where they went 1-2 and finished in the top 6.
Seniors Autumn Iversen, Harper Hancock, and Jaiden Swanson, along with juniors Sidney Smart and Ava Lausterer, led the Warrior offense. Iversen had a batting average of .577 and she also broke her own single season home run record with 19 home runs. Hancock had an average of .484. She also had a great eye for the ball, walking 17 times. Smart was not far behind with an average of .462. Sidney really came on strong in postseason play. Lausterer finished with a batting average of .411 while recording 8 doubles. Swanson finished strong with an average of .404 and 5 home runs.
Swanson and Iversen led the way in the circle for the Warriors. Swanson finished with 16 wins and 110 strikeouts. She also pitched a perfect game and a no-hitter. Iversen ended the season with 13 wins and 158 strikeouts, while Hancock led the way behind the plate for the Warriors. She did a great job keeping runners honest and where they needed to be and only allowed 9 pass balls all season.
The infield was anchored by corners Lausterer and Lanta Hitz. Both girls came in and fielded these positions nicely. Smart was super quick up the middle from her shortstop position. The outfield continued to improve all season long. Lilly Harris took the reins in center field, Maddie Snyder played left, and Adelia Dunlap was in right.
The three talented seniors will be greatly missed! The chemistry and fight this team showed throughout the season is what made them the outstanding team they were!
