COMMENTS:
Erin Curran dominated the NCC competition on Saturday, April 26, by turning in three gold medal performances in the 3200m run, 800m run, and 1600m run at the NCC Conference meet held at Wahoo High School.
Erin started the day by blistering the competition with an 11:32 in the 3200m run, one of the fastest times in Class B this season. Erin then proceeded to sprint her way to a gold medal in the 800m, with a winning time of 2:26. She finished out her “perfect” day with a gutsy performance in the 1600m, running on sheer determination, to outclass the rest of the field with a 5:31.
Erin did a tremendous job of sacrificing for the team by competing in three of the toughest events to run in a high school meet setting and continued her dominance in the distances this spring.
Hailey Sloup was the other lone conference champion for Wahoo in the 300m hurdles, recording a personal best 50.2 and making her presence felt going into Districts that she will one of those contending for a state meet birth in the 300m hurdles.
I thought that all of the girls did a tremendous job of competing and giving their best efforts throughout the day. We look forward to using the Arlington meet to get ourselves ready to make our push towards Districts and qualifying as many athletes as we can for the State Track meet.
