In the consolation quarterfinals, Spangler wrestled Sidney’s Kelby Christian and was defeated by pin fall in a time of 0:58.
“We only had a couple of guys today, but they showed up to wrestle and it showed, I thought we wrestled well today on all levels,” commented Head Wrestling Coach Darold Foster.
Six junior varsity wrestlers also competed at the Cozad Invitational. Freshman Dillon Rademaker wrestled at the 106lbs. weight class. Rademaker started off by pinning Medicine Valley’s Wayne Willis in a time of 1:35. In the semifinals Rademaker pinned Alliance’s Brendon Coward in a time of 0:48. Rademaker won his finals match against Tyler Brass of Gothenburg with his fastest pin of the day in just 0:30.

Sotelo then wrestled Reese Brickhouse of Aurora and won by pin fall in a time of 0:39. Sotelo's last match was against teammate freshman Tony Thorson. Despite both wrestlers grappling tough, Sotello was able to capitalize and win by pin fall in a time of 2:50.
Freshman Tony Thorson also wrestled at 120lbs. for the Warriors. Thorson won his first match against Reese Brickhouse of Aurora by pin fall in the first period. Rodrigo Del Torro of Lexington then defeated Thorson by pin fall in the third period. Thorson was then defeated by teammate Ivan Sotello by pin fall in a time of 2:50.

“Overall I thought we wrestled really well in the junior varsity meet. Most of our guys are fairly young and new to the sport, and it was great to get some good competition from out west. I am looking forward to seeing these guys grow in their technique,” said Assistant Coach Jake McAllister.
The Warriors will continue their season at Yutan on Tuesday, December 6 as they take on the Yutan Chieftains at 7:00 p.m.

Wahoo Hosts Triangular with Ashland-Greenwood & Raymond Central
On Thursday, December 1, the WHS Wrestling team started its 2011-2012 season with a home triangular with Ashland-Greenwood and Raymond Central.
The evening started with Wahoo facing off against Ashland-Greenwood, starting at the 145lbs. weight class. Wrestling for Wahoo, freshman Kyle White picked up his first varsity win, defeating Bluejay’s Walker Fisher by pin fall. Ashland-Greenwood’s Zane Brauckmuller defeated Senior Schyler Shanahan by decision 5-2 at 152lbs. weight class.
Senior Cameron Golter defeated Cash Campbell of Ashland-Greenwood at the 170lbs. weight class by decision 7-0. At 182lbs., junior Kyle Zeleny won by pin fall over Bluejay’s William Tucker. At 106lbs., freshman Dillon Rademaker also started his varsity career out strong defeating Dalton Gautier of Ashland-Greenwood by pin fall. Bluejay’s Dylan Kenney defeated freshman Thomas McAtee by pin fall.
Despite a strong showing by the Warriors, Ashland stayed on top due to forfeits by the Warriors and won the dual 45-21.
"I thought we wrestled well against Ashland. We had some first match mistakes, but overall I was happy with the way we wrestled, especially for having so many freshmen,” said Warrior Head Coach Darold Foster.
The Warriors last dual of the night was against the Mustangs of Raymond Central. The dual started at the 170lbs. weight class. Central’s Aaron Studebaker defeated senior Cameron Golter by pin fall. Central’s Ben Lodema defeated Wahoo junior Kyle Zeleny by pin fall. Central’s Alex Hageman defeated freshman Kyle White by pin fall.
Mainly due to open weight classes, again Wahoo was defeated 54-12.
“We just didn’t match up really well against Raymond Central, and we couldn’t get many matches,” Foster commented.
The Warriors will travel to Cozad on Saturday, December 3 to wrestle in the Cozad invitational.
