Golter Makes State!

Congratulations WHS senior Cameron Golter for qualifying for the 2012 State Wrestling Tournament!

State Update: Unfortunately Cameron Golter was pinned in both Thursday and Friday's morning matches.

On Friday February 10, and Saturday February 11 the Wahoo Warrior Wrestling team competed in the Class B-2 District championships in Blair.

Of the 12 teams, Wahoo placed 9th and qualified senior Cameron Golter at the 160 lbs. weight class for the 2012 Nebraska State Wrestling Championships!

Golter started his tournament defeating Bennington’s Jordan Hames by pin fall in a time of 3:19. Golter’s second match came against Jacob Carlson from Elkhorn in which Golter won by decision 6-0. Golter was defeated in the semifinals against Gretna’s Brady Radik by decision 6-4.

In the consolation semifinals Golter defeated Wayne’s Demetrius Alexander by major decision 12-2. In his consolation finals match Golter defeated Miseal Azpaitia from Boys Town by decision 1-0.

At 106 lbs., freshman Dillon Rademaker was defeated by Gretna’s Trent Boyer by pin fall in a time of 1:33. Rademaker was beaten in his second match by Elkhorn’s Sheldon McCalister in a time of 0:25.

Freshman Ivan Sotelo wrestled at the 120 lbs. weight class for the Warriors. Sotelo’s first match was a loss to Blair’s Brandon Lincoln by pin fall in a time of 2:37. Sotelo was then defeated by Bennington’s Michael Curzon by pin fall in a time of 2:06.

145 lbs. sophomore Colton Spangler was defeated by Blair’s Chris Bannister by decision 5-2 in the quarterfinals. In his consolation quarterfinals match, Spangler defeated Mount Michael Benedictine’s Andy Ernst by pin fall in a time of 2:40. In Spangler’s consolation semifinals match, Spangler was defeated by Wayne’s Logan Reinke in overtime by a score of 14-9.

Senior Schyler Shanahan wrestled at the 152 lbs. weight class over the weekend for the Warriors. Shanahan was defeated in the quarterfinals by Gretna’s Zach Degner by major decision 12-1. In the second round consolation, Shanahan defeated Mount Michael Benedictine’s D.J. Wooten by pin fall in a time of 4:45. Shanahan then went on to defeat Elkhorn’s Randy Farr by pin fall in a time of 2:19. Shanahan was then defeated by Omaha Skutt Catholic’s Nick Hollins by pin fall in a time of 0:12.

Sophomore Nathan Redding competed at the 170 lbs. weight class over the weekend for the Warriors. Redding’s first round match was a loss to Blair’s Will Schany by pin fall in a time of 2:45. Redding’s second match was a loss against Boys Town’s Kalen Perry by decision 7-3.

Sophomore Seth Lindgren wrestled at weight class 220 lbs. for the Warriors this weekend. Lindgren’s first round match was a loss to Omaha Skutt Catholic’s Alex Howard by pin fall in a time of 1:53. In his second match, Lindgren was defeated by Wayne’s Dylan Pflanz by major decision 12-3.

Golter will be wrestling on Thursday at the Nebraska State Wrestling Tournament at the Century Link Center in Omaha starting at 9:30 a.m.
