What started off as a fast start for both teams and looking like it could be high scoring game ended up being more of a defensive struggle for most of the game.

Neumann scored on their first play from 78 yards out, and the following drive Wahoo answered in 6 plays with a score of their own when Casey Nice ran in a 4-yard run. The Warriors struggled to get any offense going the first half, as Neumann added scores at the end of the 1st quarter and 2nd quarter for a 20-7 lead at half-time.

In the second half the offensive struggles continued for the Warriors, as the defense stiffened up and only allowed a score late in the 3rd quarter. Wahoo made the ending exciting scoring twice in the last minute of the game and nearly recovering a second on-side kick with less than 29 seconds left in the game. Josh Discher caught a 4-yard pass from Sean Lindgren with 1:08 left in the game and Greg Milliken caught a 6-yard pass from Lindgren with 29 seconds left for the final score of the game.

Wahoo’s leading rushers were Lindgren with 44 yards on 11 carries and Milliken with 24 yards on 6 carries. The receiving leaders were Justin Lewandowski with 5 catches for 132 yards, Milliken with 2 catches for 34 yards and 1 TD, and Discher with 2 catches for 16 yards and 1 TD catch.

Defensively the Warriors were led by Cole Barry with 14 total tackles, 1 tackles for a loss and 1 sack. Christian Hohl had 13 total tackles and Colter Mattson had 13 total tackles, and 1 sack.

Wahoo finished the season 6-4.

Wahoo got off to another quick start again, this time with a big play on special teams.
With 9:27 left in the first half on Arlington’s first punt, Justin Lewandowski blocked the punt and it eventually rolled out of the back of the end-zone for a safety.

Arlington then had to kick-off to Wahoo from the 20-yard line, giving the Warriors good field position, and only 8 plays later Sean Lindgren ran in the first offensive touchdown from 36 yards out with 6:25 left in the 1st quarter. Lindgren added two more 1st half scores in the 2nd quarter, each from 1 yard out.

Wahoo went into half time with a 22-0 lead. The Warrior defense dominated the Eagles, only allowing 28 yards of total offense in the first half, while Wahoo racked up 197 yards of total offense.

The 2nd half’s only score came in the 4th quarter when Lindgren ran a 10-yard touchdown in for the final score of the game.

The Warrior defense again dominated, only allowing 73 yards for the entire game. The defense was lead by Tyson Jelinek with 12 tackles, including 1 tackle for a loss and 1 sack. Lucas McAtee also had 12 tackles on the evening. Christian Hohl added 11 tackles, Colter Mattson had 10 tackles and Cole Barry had 9 tackles to round out the defensive effort.

On offense, Greg Milliken led all rushers with 128 yards on 20 carries, followed by Lindgren who had 11 carries for 58 yards and 4 touchdowns. Casey Nice added 30 yards on 7 carries and Seth Stewart had 21 yards on 3 carries.

Wahoo is scheduled to play Bishop Neumann on Wednesday night, November 4, at 7:00 p.m.

The Warriors got off to a much-needed quick start on a rainy, cold game versus the Raymond Central Mustangs. Wahoo scored 3 times in the first quarter to put the game away early in the contest.

Corey Davis found the end zone first with a 5-yard touchdown run with 9:04 left in the 1st quarter. After Raymond Central’s first possession the Warrior punt block team found a way to block their first punt of the season. Sean Smith managed to catch the block punt on the 8-yard line and run in for the second score of the game with 4:53 left in the 1st quarter. On Wahoo’s next drive Greg Milliken ran in a 6-yard touchdown run with 1:20 left in the 1st quarter.

Wahoo held that going into halftime, while the defense held the Mustang offense to 5 yards of total offense in the 1st half.

Milliken ran in a 20-yard touchdown run with 8:17 left in the 3rd quarter. The next score that occurred for the Warriors happened when Christian Hohl sacked the Raymond Central quarterback in the end zone causing a fumbling and recovering the fumble for a defensive touchdown with 2:57 left in the 3rd quarter.

The last score of the game occurred with 4:12 left in the 4th quarter when Milliken found the end zone for a 3rd time. Milliken finished with 85 yards on 16 carries for the evening, Davis added 62 yards on 10 carries, and Lucas McAtee carried the ball 3 times for 32 yards.

On defense the Warriors only gave up 59 yards for the entire game. Davis and McAtee each had 11 tackles, while Colter Mattson and Brandon Walling had 7 tackles each. The defense stepped up all night long registering 8 three-and-outs.

Wahoo will play in the play-offs next Thursday, October 29. The Warriors are looking at hosting a play-off game and the opponent will be announced later.

Wahoo struggled to overcome 7 turnovers on Friday night in their game versus the Milford Eagles. The struggles started early and came often with the opening kick-off being fumbled by the Warriors, giving Milford the ball on the 10-yard line.

Milford capitalized on the Wahoo turnovers and ran a ball control offense that enabled them to keep the ball for the majority of the night. By the end of the game, the Eagles ran 78 plays of offense, while the Wahoo offense was only on the field for 38 plays.

The Warrior offense was led by Greg Milliken with 89 yards rushing on 7 carries and 106 yards receiving on 2 catches, one of those catches for a touchdown. Seth Stewart also had 7 carries for 62 yards. Christian Hohl was 5 for 14 passing for 123 yards on the evening.

Wahoo’s defensive unit was led by Lucas McAtee with 28 tackles, including a fumble recovery. Cole Barry added 19 tackles with 2 tackles for a loss. Hohl and Corey Davis both added 9 tackles a piece.

Wahoo will host Raymond Central for their final regular season game and senior night on Thursday, October 22 at 7 p.m.

Wahoo manage to rely on a strong defensive effort to close out the victory on Friday night.

The Warrior defense was led by Lucas McAtee with 11 tackles and a fumble recovery. Christian Hohl charted 10 tackles and a tackle for a loss, while Corey Davis also had 10 tackles and a tackle for a loss, with a fumble recovery. Cole Barry had 9 tackles and a tackle for a loss. Wahoo’s defense had 3 interceptions by 3 different players: Dyllon Nelson, Greg Milliken, and Justin Lewandowski. The defense held the Blue Jays to 255 yards of total offense and just 10 points.

Wahoo’s offense relied on the big play to defeat Ashland-Greenwood. Greg Milliken had a 49-yard touchdown reception thrown from Christian Hohl towards the end of the 2nd quarter. The other score came at the beginning of the fourth quarter when Hohl found Lewandowski down the field for a 66-yard touchdown reception.

Wahoo finished with 283 yards on the evening. Hohl managed 32 yards on the ground and 159 yards in the air, while going 7 for 13 with 2 TD passes and 1 interception. Wahoo was led by Milliken on the ground with 49 yards rushing, followed by Casey Nice with 44 yards rushing.

Wahoo will travel to Milford for an important District game with the Eagles on October 16.

Wahoo Warrior Football team experienced a long night on Friday as Bishop Neumann shut out the Warriors and scored 40 points.

Wahoo had a very difficult time sustaining drives and not executing at critical times in the games as penalties, fumbles, and dropped passes were far too frequent for the Warriors to overcome.

On defense the Warriors gave up too many big plays that resulted in scores for the Cavaliers as 5 of the 6 scores for Neumann came from big plays of 45 yards or more. Wahoo’s defense was plagued with poor tackling that aided in the success the Neumann experienced on Friday night.

Defensively, Wahoo’s statistical leaders were Lucas McAtee with 9 tackles and Colter Mattson with 8 tackles.

Offensively, Wahoo was lead by Corey Davis with 43 yards rushing and Christian Hohl with 41 yards rushing.

Wahoo will need to improve quickly as an undefeated Ashland-Greenwood comes to town on Friday night, October 9.

Wahoo managed to find a way to win their 2009 Homecoming Contest last Friday when Ethan Harders kicked a 27-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter. Fairbury led the entire game until Harders kicked the winning field goal with 1:41 left in the 4th quarter.

Fairbury scored first in the 2nd Quarter on a 2-yard run off the left side. The score stayed at 7-0 until Corey Davis ran a 4-yard touchdown run with 7:41 left in the 3rd Quarter. The PAT was missed and the scored stayed at 7-6 until the winning kick in the 4th.

Wahoo threatened to score on their first drive, but a fumble killed that drive as they got inside the 10-yard line. The other drive stalled out on the 35 yard line. Wahoo only had the ball twice in the first half. Fairbury controlled the clock in the first half and clearly held the time of possession advantage going into half time.

The second half was clearly a different half with the Warrior defense stepping up providing some big stops and the offense controlling the ball. Wahoo opened the half with a 13-play scoring drive capped by Corey Davis running the ball in from 4 yards out. Wahoo had two drives that ended up inside the 10 yard line in the second half, the first of those drives ending in a missed field goal attempt, and the second and final drive ending with the game-winning field goal kicked by Harders.

Offensively, the Warriors were lead by Casey Nice, who finished the night with 25 carries for 107 yards, followed by Sean Lindgren with 49 yards on 13 carries, and Seth Stewart with 7 carries for 40 yards. Josh Discher caught a pass for 55 yards and Justin Lewandowski caught the other pass for 20 yards. Lindgren was 2-3 passing for 75 yards.

Defensively, Wahoo only gave up 219 yards of total offense to Fairbury’s spread attack. Nice led the Warrior defense with 10 total tackles and an interception. Lindgren had 8 tackles, Lucas McAtee had 7 tackles, Sean Smith had 6 tackles with a sack and Davis had 6 tackles with a tackle for a loss and a caused fumble.

Wahoo will travel to Bishop Neumann on October 2, for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off.

Warriors Rebound with Strong 55-19 Victory over Mount Michael

Wahoo got back to its winning ways on Friday with a 55-19 win over Elkhorn Mount Michael.

Wahoo racked up 590 yards of total offense on 74 plays, averaging nearly 8 yards a play. After the offense struggled to find the end zone the week prior versus Syracuse, the Warrior offense hit pay dirt 8 times Friday night.

Corey Davis led all rushers with 117 yards on 16 carries with 1 TD run, followed by Greg Milliken with 105 yards on 16 carries with 2 TD runs. Casey Nice added 64 yards rushing on 10 carries and Seth Stewart had 56 yards on 6 carries, with 1 rushing TD. The offense ended the night with 424 yards rushing on the evening.

Christian Hohl completed 6 of 13 passing for 168 yards with 2 TD passes. Josh Discher had 3 receptions for 66 yards and 1 TD catch and Milliken had 1 catch for a 75-yard TD reception. Davis and Josh Proctor each added a reception to the totals for 17 and 8 yards.

The Warrior Defense had a daunting task of stopping Mt. Michael’s big play offensive attack. For the most part Wahoo kept the Knights in check all night long. The Knights scored on 2 long TD passes (75 yards & 71 yards). Take those two catches away and the Warriors held Mt. Michael to 130 yards of total offense.

The Warriors won the turnover battle by getting 5 takeaways from the Knights. Lucas McAtee lead all tacklers with 13 tackles and 1 fumble recovery. Cole Barry added 11 tackles to the defensive effort. Tyson Jelinek stepped up the pass rush with 2 sacks, 1 tackle for a loss and 7 total tackles. Davis added 8 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss.

Wahoo will enjoy a bye week this week and get prepared for the Fairbury Jeffs to come to Wahoo for Homecoming on September 25, 2009.

Wahoo suffered a disappointing loss to the Syracuse Rockets, even though they out-yarded their opponent by 200 yards of total offense.

Turnovers, costly penalties and special teams mistakes riddled the Warriors all night long. Syracuse scored first after Wahoo fumbled inside the 5-yard line, giving the Rockets an extremely short field with 7:08 in the first quarter.

Wahoo drove the ball up and down the field the first half, having their only score right before halftime when Greg Milliken scored on a 10-yard touchdown run with 26 seconds left in the second quarter. The PAT was missed and the scored was tied at 6-6 at the half.

Syracuse’s second score came off of a punt attempt that went bad for Wahoo during the third quarter. Syracuse capped their drive with a 4-yard run with 8:23 left in the third quarter. Wahoo again was able to move that ball in the second half, but couldn’t convert on 3rd and 4th downs to sustain drives.

Defensively, the Warriors played impressively, holding Syracuse to 138 yards of total offense on the entire evening.

The Warrior Defense was led by Lucas McAtee with 17 tackles, Casey Nice with 14 tackles, Christian Hohl with 6 tackles and 1 interception, and Sean Lindgren had 6 tackles.

Offensively Wahoo was lead by Milliken who had 151 yards on 27 carries and 1 touchdown run. Sean Lindgren had 55 yards on 8 carries and Casey Nice had 11 carries with 38 yards (including a 15-yard loss on a failed punt attempt). The Warriors struggled to get their passing game going, only throwing for 61 yards. Josh Discher had 1 catch for 21 yards, Josh Proctor had 1 catch for 20 yards and Corey Davis had 2 catches for 20 yards.

Wahoo will host Class B Elkhorn Mount Michael on Friday, September 11.

Wahoo got off to a fast start for its 2009 season opener versus Omaha Roncalli. 

The opening kickoff was received by Greg Milliken and taken back 86 yards for a touchdown for a quick start. The extra point was good by Ethan Harders. The next kick-off was a surprise on-side kicked by Harders and recovered by Cole Barry on Wahoo’s 49 yard line. Unfortunately the drive stalled on a failed 4th down conversion.

The Warrior Defense held strong all night, forcing Roncalli into a three plays and out on their first possession. The defense did not allow a touchdown during the game. The only Roncalli score came on an interception return for a touchdown with 1:09 left in the first quarter.

Wahoo managed to find the end zone with 4:26 left in the first half. Sean Lindgren found Christian Hohl in the back of the end zone for a 5-yard touchdown pass that capped a 10-play, 65-yard drive. The extra point was good by Harders. Wahoo took a 14-7 lead into the half time.

Wahoo tacked on 2 more scores in the 3rd quarter with Lindgren scoring on a 59-yard run followed by a 21-yard run. Harders added the extra points to both of those scores.

Milliken added the last score on a 60-yard TD run with 2:22 left in the game. The PAT failed and the final score 34-7.

The offense racked up 428 total yards with 281 of them on the ground and 145 of them in the air. Milliken led all rushers with 137 yards on 10 carries with 2 TD runs, followed by Lindgren with 103 yards on 9 carries with 2 TD runs. Lindgren also completed 8 passes on 14 attempts for 124 yards and 1 TD pass and 1 interception.

The Warrior defense only gave up 208 total yards (131 yards on the ground and 77 yards in the air). The defense was led by Lucas McAtee with 7 assisted tackles and 3 unassisted tackles with 1 tackle for a loss. Cole Barry also had 10 tackles, and Corey Davis and Seth Stewart added 6 tackles each.

Wahoo will travel to Syracuse on Friday night for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off.
