The Warriors got back to their winning ways on Friday night with a big district win over cross town foe Bishop Neumann.
The game started out as a defensive struggle as neither team found the end zone in the first quarter and the majority of the second quarter. Both teams traded field goals in the 2nd quarter. Ethan Harders put the Warriors on the scoreboard first with a 28-yard field goal with 3:14 left in the 2nd quarter. Both Teams traded field goals in the 2nd quarter. Then with a late drive that started with less than a 1:30 on the clock, Wahoo put together a drive before the end of the half. Sean Lindgren punched in a 1-yard run on a 4th down play with 2.1 seconds left in the half. Wahoo took a 10-3 lead into halftime.
Neumann struck first in the second half with a 22-yard touchdown pass with 7:57 in the 3rd quarter to even the score to 10-10. The Warriors then capitalized on two special teams errors committed by the Cavaliers. First Bishop Neumann muffed a punt and Christian Hohl recovered the fumble, which set up a Seth Stewart 15-yard physical run for Wahoo’s 2nd touchdown with 5:25 left in the 3rd quarter. Then Neumann had their next error when a snap on a punt sailed over the punters head. Wahoo took over deep in Cavalier territory to set up their 3rd and final touchdown when Sean Lindgren ran in a 4-yard touchdown run with 2:01 left in the 3rd quarter. That score gave Wahoo a 24-10 lead.
The 4th quarter had only one score between the two teams when Neumann scored with 1:09 left in the game. The Cavaliers unsuccessfully attempted an onside kick following the score. Wahoo was then able to run the clock out.
The Warriors will welcome the Ashland-Greenwood Blue Jays on Thursday, October 21.
