STATE PLAYOFFS
The 2019 NSAA Class C1 State Football Playoffs began Friday, November 1. On a coin flip, Wahoo earned the #2 seed, and powered their way through the bracket, posting big wins over #15 Boys Town, #7 Columbus Scotus, and #11 Wayne, leading up to the Nov. 26 championship game, where the Warriors closed the season with their first-ever State Title, completely dominating #4 Pierce in a 38-0 shutout! Congratulations Wahoo on an incredible, record-breaking season!

Wahoo won its first-ever State Championship in football by defeating Pierce in a very dominating fashion in Memorial Stadium on Nov. 26!
The Warriors had 20 first downs for the game, amassing 391 yards of total offense, while Pierce only had 3 first downs, gaining only 94 yards of total offense.
On offense the Warriors were led by Trevin Luben, as he ran for 269 yards on 42 carries with 5 rushing touchdowns. Colin Ludvik had 10 carries for 40 yards. Peyten Walling added 2 carries for 6 yards, and Thomas Waido had 8 carries for 30 yards. Luke Partridge had 1 catch for 10 yards and Cooper Hancock had 2 receptions for 41 yards.
Defensively, the Warriors had another stellar performance, forcing 5 turnovers. Kole Bordovsky led all tacklers with 12 tackles, including an interception that set up the first score. Wahoo will advance to the State Finals for the first time in school history after a 21-7 victory over Wayne Friday night!
On offense the Warriors were led by Trevin Luben, as he ran for 148 yards on 25 carries with 2 rushing touchdowns. Colin Ludvik had 14 carries for 54 yards. Peyten Walling added 2 receptions for 32 yards, and Luke Partridge had 1 catch for 4 yards.
Defensively, the Warriors had another stellar night, giving up only 137 yards of total offense. Kole Bordovsky led all tacklers with 22 tackles, including 2 tackles for a loss. Grant Kolterman had 10 tackles, 2 sacks and a blocked kick. Brandon Swahn added 9 tackles, including 2 for losses.
Next week Wahoo will travel to Memorial Stadium for the State Football Finals against the undefeated Pierce Bluejays.

The 2019 Warrior Defense continued to wreak havoc on Scotus' offense in the Nov. 8 state quarterfinal victory (49-7).
Wahoo enters their third straight semifinal with an 11-0 record. Defensively, the Warriors have only allowed a total of 47 points . . . an average of only 4.27 points per game!

Wahoo picked up another playoff victory Friday by defeating the Columbus Scotus Shamrocks 49-7. The Warriors dominated the game from start to finish and took a 42-0 lead into halftime.
On offense the Warriors were led by Trevin Luben, as he ran for 193 yards on 19 carries with 4 rushing touchdowns. Colin Ludvik had 7 carries for 125 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns. Wahoo dominated the line of scrimmage, averaging over 10 yards a rush for the game.
Defensively the Warriors were led by linebackers Kole Bordovsky and Grant Kolterman. Bordovsky had 8 tackles, and Kolterman had 3 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss. Kalon Cooper, Callan Phillips and Gunnar Vanek each had 3 tackles on the evening. Peyten Walling had 3 tackles and 1 interception.
Next week Wahoo will welcome the Wayne Blue Devils to Wahoo for a semifinal game of the NSAA C-1 playoffs.

Wahoo picked up their third straight District win on Friday by defeating the Columbus Lakeview Vikings 69-14, moving to 8-0 on the 2019 season. The Warriors scored 42 points in the 2nd quarter to break the game open.
On offense the Warriors were led by Trevin Luben on the ground again. Luben ran for 155 yards on 12 carries, with 5 rushing touchdowns. Colin Ludvik had 5 carries for 67 yards. Wahoo was much improved through the air as Thomas Waido was 13-15 passing for 188 yards and 2 touchdowns. Waido hit 7 different receivers, with Cooper Hancock leading all receivers with 5 catches for 62 yards and 1 touchdown. Colin Ludvik had 3 catches for 33 yards. Grant Kolterman had 1 catch for a 71-yard touchdown.
Defensively the Warriors were led by linebacker Kole Bordovsky who had 10 tackles. Brandon Swahn had 4 tackles and 2 tackles for loss. Gunnar Vanek had 4 tackles as well. The defense held Lakeview to 129 yards of total offense.
Next week Wahoo will host Columbus Scotus for the last game of the 2019 regular season. With a win Wahoo would clinch a District Championship for the 4th year in a row and preserve a perfect regular season record of 9-0.

On offense the Warriors were led by Trevin Luben, who ran for 201 yards on 44 carries with 2 rushing touchdowns. Thomas Waido went 5-8 passing with 27 yards. Cooper Hancock had 3 catches for 12 yards, and Luke Partridge had 1 catch for 13 yards.
Defensively the Warriors were led by Grant Kolterman with 9 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 caused fumble, 1 sack, and 1 Interception. On offense the Warriors were led by Trevin Luben, who ran for 90 yards on 12 carries with 3 rushing touchdowns. Colin Ludvik added 124 yards on 15 carries and 1 rushing touchdown. Thomas Waido had a very efficient night going 12 for 15 passing with 142 yards. Luke Partridge led all receivers with 5 receptions for 83 yards and 1 touchdown. Cooper Hancock also had 4 receptions for 37 yards.
Defensively the Warriors were led by Kole Bordovsky with 10 tackles and 2 tackles for loss and 1 blocked punt, and Grant Kolterman with 7 tackles with 1 tackle for a loss and 1 sack. Brandon Swahn added 5 tackles, 1 tackle for loss and 1 sack. Callan Phillips had 6 tackles and 1 tackle for loss.
Wahoo excelled in Special Teams, which included Jesus Zaragoza making 2 field goals from 32 and 34 yards in the second quarter. Ludvik had 4 punt returns for 55 yards, setting the Warriors in excellent field position all night.

Wahoo continued its winning ways on Friday with a dominating performance versus conference foe Platteview.
On offense the Warriors were led by Trevin Luben, who ran for 135 yards on 23 carries with 4 rushing touchdowns. Colin Ludvik helped out on the ground with 115 yards rushing on 13 carries and 2 rushing touchdowns. Thomas Waido was 6 for 10 passing with 49 yards. Luke Partridge led all receivers with 3 receptions for 19 yards.
Defensively the Warriors were led by Kole Bordovsky with 14 tackles and 1 tackle for loss. Grant Kolterman had 11 tackles, 3 tackles for loss,1 sack and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. Cooper Hancock contributed in the secondary with an interception. The Warrior defense dominated as they held the Trojans to -41 yards of total offense.

Warrior defense shuts down Huskies, top ranked Wahoo wins 28-6 (by Jason Unger, Wahoo Newspaper, 09/18/2019)
Despite a slow start on offense Wahoo used a 21 point 2nd quarter to gain the necessary momentum to come away victorious on Homecoming last Friday night versus #4 Aurora.
Offensively, Wahoo relied on its ground game running for 368 yards on 50 carries (7.36 yards per carry), and hitting a couple of timely throws for touchdowns. On the ground Trevin Luben led all rushers with 31 carries for 269 yards and 2 rushing TD’s. Receiving leaders were Luke Partridge (2 catches for 47 yards and 1 TD) and Peyten Walling (2 catches for 31 yards and 1 TD).
Defensively, the Warriors were led by Kole Bordovsky with 18 tackles and 2 tackles for loss. Grant Kolterman had 14 tackles and 3 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery. Trevin Luben had 12 tackles on the evening and Thomas Waido had 3 tackles and 1 interception.
Wahoo will play Platteview (2-1) next Friday at home.

Wahoo travelled to Nebraska City on Friday and cruised to their second win of the 2019 season. Wahoo’s offensive unit was able to amass 389 yards of total offense and 9 TDs, while the Warrior defensive unit gave up only 98 yards offense on the night.
Offensively Wahoo was led by Colin Ludvik with 7 carries for 127 yards and 1 TD, and Trevin Luben with 12 carries for 114 yards and 3 TDs on the ground. Thomas Waido had a very efficient night throwing, going 10 for 11 for 105 yards. Peyton Walling had 3 catches for 38 yards and 1 TD, and Luke Partridge had 3 catches for 50 yards and 1 TD to lead all receivers.
Defensively Wahoo was led by Kole Bordovsky with 11 tackles and Grant Kolterman with 10 tackles. Brandon Swahn, Gunnar Vanek, and Callan Phillips all had 5 tackles each, as well.
Wahoo’s Special Teams continued to make big plays, with Luben returning the second half opening kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown. Ludvik also had 77 total return yards helping the Warriors set up short fields for the offense.
Next Friday Wahoo will welcome Aurora to town for a top C-1 match-up.

The Warrior football team hosted Wayne for the 2019 season opener. Wahoo’s special teams and defense carried the team, as the offense struggled to consistently finish drives.
The Warriors were led by Trevin Luben, who had 13 carries for 91 yards with 3 touchdowns, and Colin Ludvik had 10 carries for 50 yards and 1 touchdown. Thomas Waido went 7 for 14 passing for 122 yards. Wahoo’s leading receivers were Peyten Walling, with 3 catches for 80 yards, and Cooper Hancock, with 2 catches for 28 yards.
On defense Wahoo was led by linebackers Kole Bordovksy with 13 tackles and 2 sacks, and Grant Kolterman with 6 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks. Brandon Swahn was very active on defense with 4 tackles 4 tackles for loss, 1 sack and 1 fumble caused. Trevin Luben also had major contributions on defense with 5 tackles and an interception.
On special teams the Warriors dominated with Grant Kolterman tackling the punter in the endzone for a safety, and Trevin Luben had 4 punt returns for 52 yards and 1 touchdown return.
Wahoo will travel to Nebraska City next Friday for their second game of the 2019 season.
