Vrana Ventures to San Antonio for FBLA National Leadership Conference
Nebraska Chapters Bring Home 28 Event Awards
The Nebraska Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) traveled to San Antonio, Texas, for the National Leadership Conference held June 28 to July 3, 2012.
Nebraska was represented by 275 members, advisers, and guests who attended the conference to compete at the national level. Wahoo High School junior Evann Vrana represented WHS by competing in Introduction to Business Communications.
While in San Antonio, members had the opportunity to network with other members from across the nation, listen to workshop presenters, and explore the city!
On the first night, the delegation dined at Mi Tierra’s Mexican Restaurant and shopped at the Mercado Straw Market, a historic Mexican shopping center. The next morning they visited the historic Buckhorn Saloon and Texas Rangers Museum, and toured Mission San José y San Miguel de Aguayo.
At the conference, members had the opportunity to listen to Keynote Speaker Patrick Maurer, who inspired students to never lose the joy of childhood and never be afraid of dreaming outside the box. Workshops were also offered, ranging in topic from time management to networking.
Nebraska’s competitors found their Gateway to Greatness! Nebraska FBLA won 28 competitive event awards. Twenty-six competitors placed in the top ten in their events, and five placed first. In addition, two competitors placed first in open events. State Vice President Brent Comstock ran a successful campaign and will represent FBLA as the National Mountain Plains Vice President in the coming year.
Congratulations to all competitors on another successful conference!
