FBLA students donate time to community
Members spend afternoon serving others at Lincoln's Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach
Members of the WHS Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) reached out to the community by preparing and providing a snack for those in need at the Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach in Lincoln on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
The students prepared over 120 bags of Chex mix. On a typical day, a meal and dessert are served, so the snacks were a nice addition.
“It was fun handing out the snacks and seeing the expression on their face,” commented WHS freshman Will Shanahan.
The students also assisted with the clean up of the dining room, and then were given a tour of the facilities.
The Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach Mission Statement reads: “The Mission of Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach is to serve the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of Lincoln's working poor, and homeless through outreach, advocacy, education and the provision of food and shelter.”
The FBLA students served snacks to the clients today, along with a lot of smiles and conversation!
WHS sophomore Corby Brigham stated, “I enjoyed talking to the people. Some knew a lot about Wahoo basketball!”
Those attending were Tyler Ruzicka, Mitchell McGill, Corby Brigham, Bret Walker, Austin Scott, Will Shanahan, and FBLA Adviser Barb Shanahan.
