FBLA Students Attend 2012 Creighton University Business Symposium
Seven Rub Elbows at Nation's Largest Student-Planned Event
Seven Wahoo students found their way to the CenturyLink in Omaha for a business symposium sponsored by Creighton University on Friday, November 2, 2012.
The Creighton Business Symposium is currently the largest student-planned event in the nation.
The day consisted of many different activities. While there, students learned, and were able to ask questions to the business department’s professors, about the business programs offered at Creighton. They then listened to Creighton Alumni talk about why they chose Creighton and how it has helped their future.
The next activity was a lesson on business etiquette. Students learned the proper way to eat and create small talk. Students were then able to practice those skills they learned by networking with Creighton University students and professors.
Part of this activity included handing out their own business cards, which they had received at the beginning of the day. After that, they were able to practice the proper way to eat at a formal lunch that was provided by Creighton for the high school students, college students, professors, and alumni, while listening to the second keynote speaker of the day, Dr. Peter Leddy. Dr. Leddy is Senior Vice President of Global Human Resources Life Technologies of California and is an alumnus of Creighton.
The Wahoo students then headed to Creighton University to take a quick tour of the campus to finish their outing. After the long day, they headed back to Wahoo just in time for the last bell to ring.
