Busy November - FBLA members attend National Conference and ice skating party!
Four FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) members and their advisor attended the National Fall Leadership Conference in Omaha at the Qwest Center on Friday and Saturday, November 5th & 6th. The conference consisted of two full days of seminars on various topics, tours, and general sessions. Our members were able to tour the Omaha World Herald Freedom Center. This is the new building that contains all of the printing presses for the newspaper. The students then listened to a presentation given by the Vice President of the Omaha World Herald on the various business activities the newspaper is involved in, much more than just the business of newspapers! All of the students found this to be a really interesting tour, especially now that our local paper is owned by the Omaha World Herald. The general sessions consisted of motivating speakers. The students really liked the speaker at the opening session on Friday, Eddie Slowikowski. At one time he held the world record for the mile race. The conference was attended by over 1,200 students and their advisors from the Midwest.
Orders are being taken for t-shirts. They must be paid for before we will order them. Orders are due to Mrs. Shanahan by 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 1. The cost is $11.
