Miss Nebraska visits Miss Richard's 2nd grade students
Sara Hollins reads to students & encourages them to never give up on dreams
Miss Richards' 2nd grade students recently welcomed 2016 Miss Nebraska Sara Hollins to their classroom.
Hollins, an Omaha native who was crowned as the new Miss Nebraska back in January, read the book Oh, the Places You'll Go! out loud to students on Friday, March 4, and encouraged them to never give up on their dreams. To illustrate overcoming her own adversity, Hollins told the story of how she became Miss Nebraska. She tried three times for the achievement, working harder every time, until finally finding success on her third attempt!
Students were able to try on Hollins' sash and crown, and she gave each student a special note with his/her name and a message on it.
"It was really eye opening to the students how she was just a regular person that didn't give up on her dream," Richard commented. "She tried three years to become Miss Nebraska and didn't give up unti it happened. She showed them you don't have to be famous to dream big and achieve those dreams!"
