Wahoo Elementary student named finalist in zoo poster competition
Havlovic's artwork selected among top 19 out of over 2,800 submissions!
Third graders from Wahoo Elementary participated in the Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium's 2014 Poster Contest. Students were asked to design a poster on 12" x 18" paper that reflects their favorite zoo experience.
Overall, over 2,800 posters were submitted by students across Nebraska. Judges critiqued all entries, and when all was said and done, the top 19 posters were selected, which will be displayed at the zoo throughout the summer.
Wahoo Elementary student Ethan Havlovic's poster was one of the 19 posters chosen!
"This is the 4th year we have been doing this as a third grade, and this is the first time we have ever had anyone make it this far," said Wahoo Elementary 3rd Grade Teacher Trina Christen. "Ethan did a great job taking his time and adding lots of detail to his picture."
Each student who submits a poster for the contest receives a free one-day individual pass to the Zoo. In addition to his zoo pass, Havlovic will also receive a personal invitation to a Zoo Poster Party with the other winners, as well as a certificate of achievement and additional prizes.
Additional prizes will be awarded to the overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, which will be announced at the Zoo Poster Party.
Congratulations Ethan . . . well done!
