Westroads Mall Awards WPS Kindergarten Teacher with $500 Gift Card
Launch the media gallery 1 playerOne of our own has been named "Favorite Teacher" in the 2013 Celebrate Teachers program, sponsored by Westroads Mall in Omaha.
In recognition of National Teacher's Day on May 7, Westroads Mall awarded Mrs. Andrea Beaver, a kindergarten teacher at Wahoo Elementary, a $500 mall gift card and a "Swag Bag" of gifts from various mall retailers.
Westroads asked its Facebook followers to nominate and vote for top performing teachers in the area. Mrs. Beaver received the most votes on the mall's Facebook page from April 16-28!
The award was presented to Mrs. Beaver during a surprise all-school assembly today in the elementary gymnasium.

at an all-school assembly on Tuesday, May 7.
"What a great honor for our school and for an awesome teacher!" commented Wahoo Elementary Principal Jane Wiebold. "Andrea gives her students 100 percent of herself daily. The parents, children and her peers love having her as part of Wahoo Elementary. She is truly deserving of this award!"
The following was submitted by an anonymous parent, who nominated Mrs. Beaver for this honor:
"Andrea's an amazing teacher who gives her students everything, but she doesn't only give the students her attention. She also communicates often with the parents and sympathizes with the difficulty of letting a child go. She keeps them updated on what is going on in class and provides them with a montage video at the end of the year, since she's constantly taking pictures. She spends so much of her own money to fill that classroom with joy!"
