Ann said, "Mrs. Meyer is so well loved by her students and their parents that it is only fitting she be nominated by her entire class and their parents. When I spoke with other parents the response was unanimous."
Ann said Mrs. Meyer is so deserving. "She always has an encouraging smile on her face and is positive at all times. She has helped her students make the transition from kindergarten to 1st grade with great ease. Reading my son's journals, I was so amazed not only by the improvement in writing skills, but also by his increased confidence. Mrs. Meyer fosters an environment of cooperation and compassion. Seeing Mrs. Meyer with her students, you can tell that she loves teaching."
Susan Davidson, a fellow parent, said, "Kelly Meyer is truly an A+ educator. She is kind and gentle with the children at all times. Her classroom is bright and lively. She uses songs to teach many things. She always has a bright smile to greet everyone. I am so thankful to have had her as my son's first grade teacher."
Kelly Meyer has been teaching 1st grade at Wahoo Elementary for 4 years. Kelly said she became a teacher because she loves to work with kids. She said it is such a joy to see them learn.
Kelly said it is very important for her to build a relationship with each of her students. "When my students enter the classroom I right away try to form a strong bond with them. If a trust is not established between the teacher and student, a strong relationship for learning will not develop. As a teacher you must identify student strengths and needs, check for areas of student success or potential problem areas, and use that information to develop instructional approaches. The relationships that I've had with children have given me a greater understanding for patience, love, and a dedication for teaching."
