Wahoo 5th Graders Enjoy Field Trip to Husker Nation
Students Visit UNL's Memorial Stadium and Sheldon Art Gallery
The 5th grade classes took a field trip on April 16 to the University of Nebraska to visit Memorial Stadium and the Sheldon Art Gallery.
Students saw the weight room, practice facilities, the dining hall, training areas, press box, tunnel walk area, and were able to run out onto the field. One of the highlights was seeing former Husker quarterback Joe Ganz practicing with several of the Husker players. Did you know the University even has a sand volleyball court for players to prepare for sand volleyball competitions in California? Last year two Husker players won the competition!
After the Memorial Stadium tour, students walked to Sheldon where they viewed the outside sculpture gardens and looked at many forms of artwork found inside the gallery. The featured exhibit was a photo exhibit where the artist had visited the cities of Paris, new York, and Shanghai. He took photos of a certain topic (example: men with striped shirts). These were displayed in strips together and you could make inferences about the customs of each city.
Wahoo can be proud of their 5th graders, as they could answer many of the questions the art docents asked them!
Finally the 5th graders ended their field trip with a lunch at Valentinos. All in all it was a great day!
