Wahoo Middle School Participates in National Geographic's Geography Bee
8th Grader Zetocka Wins Local Round; Hopes to Advance to State Competition

He corrected me on my geography and agreed to sit down with me anyway.”
All Wahoo Middle School students recently sat down to demonstrate their geography prowess and competed in the local level of the National Geographic Geography Bee.
After a preliminary round, 19 students advanced to a semifinal round. Question topics included world geography, U.S. historical geography, geographic extremes and more. When the dust settled, two students remained tied in the contest – 8th grader Brandon Zetocka and 6th grader Tyler Timm. Both competed head to head in a sudden-death playoff and Zetocka emerged victorious.
Zetocka, for the second consecutive year, will take a qualifying test in an attempt to qualify for the state level of the National Geographic Geography Bee. In order to do so, he will need to secure one of the 100 best scores in the state. If he is successful, he will attend the state bee in May in Omaha.
