WMS StuCo raises over $1,300 for Saunders County Lost Pets!
Fundraising effort yields impressive student response
The Wahoo Middle School Student Council just wrapped up a fundraiser for Saunders County Lost Pets, and the results are impressive!
WMS students raised a total of $1,319.80 for this local organization!
The WMS StuCo fundraiser was designed as a competitive challenge by grade level. Each grade competed for the prize of a free class period.
The overall winner was 6th grade with a total of $566.69. The runner-up was 7th grade with $520.10, and trailing the pack was 8th grade with $223.01.
Deb Wilcox, the owner of SCLP, said that the money raised will go directly to the animals, to help make sure they are all vaccinated, spayed and neutered, and microchipped. These funds will also be used to help cover vet expenses.
SCLP has saved over 95 stray cats this year, and has found good homes for all of them. As of right now, they have one tortoise, 12 dogs, 35 cats, and one miniature pony.
WMS 6th grader Chandler Beasley said he enjoys beating the other grades, and he is happy to have a free period with his friends, but he also commented that it feels good to be able to make life better for the animals.
