Wahoo 8th Graders Use Community Service to Celebrate Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
67 Students Combed the Community in Project's 3rd Year

It was with those words that 67 Wahoo Middle School 8th grade students set out into the community on January 18.
The students, along with their sponsors, gave up an afternoon of classroom activities and lessons in order to serve various businesses across Wahoo. The students, in small groups, completed a number of tasks, including painting, scooping snow, reading and playing games with senior citizens, sweeping basements, walking dogs, folding clothes, sorting donated food, cleaning walls, tabulating surveys and many others.
All agreed that it was an appropriate way to celebrate the legacy of Dr. King on his birthday. Those who received the help were very appreciative and, in the third year of this project, the teachers and sponsors were thankful that so many businesses reached out and allowed the students to serve.
