New 6th graders leave their mark
Students paint/sign ceiling tiles to symbolize their role in building positive school culture
New Wahoo Middle School 6th graders leave their mark on the ceiling tiles of the school. The school supports this symbolic activity to support the idea that students "have a hand" in building a positive culture in the building.
Wahoo Middle School 6th grade students recently painted their hands and placed them on ceiling tiles in the school to demonstrate their commitment to school learning.
Teachers and students ventured out to the school's blacktop area and chose a color and a ceiling tile to decorate. After the tiles had time to dry, each student signed their name on their handprint, and the tiles were returned to the ceiling in the Middle School commons area.
There are many new school experiences for a 6th grader at Wahoo Middle School. With added freedoms such as moving from class to class and sitting where they wish in the cafeteria, 6th graders must have an increased level of personal commitment to achieving at a high level in the classroom. In addition, all students are encouraged to work respectfully together and with an eye toward the success of the whole group.
