McIlhaney Selected for 2012 All State Band!
WHS Sophomore Earns Flute 1 Part for Nov. 16 Honor Band Performance
Big congratulations to WHS sophomore Lukas McIlhaney for making it into the 2012 All State Band!
Students from across the state auditioned for an opportunity to perform in Nebraska’s most prestigious honor band. McIlhaney is among 16 flute students selected from all state-wide auditioners to perform. Among the 16 chosen, he is in the top 8, and has been assigned the Flute 1 part.
Next week McIlhaney will spend three days rehearsing in Lincoln with the rest of the band in preparation for a Friday evening concert (Nov. 16) at the Lied Center in Lincoln.
The rehearsals and concert will be conducted by the well-known composer Jack Stamp. Stamp is active as a guest conductor, clinician, adjudicator, and composer throughout North America and Great Britain. His compositions have been commissioned and performed by leading military and university bands across the United States.
