Warrior Band students attend annual exhibition at Memorial Stadium
Cornhusker Marching Band continues its tradition of excellence
On Friday, August 21, WMS/WHS Band Director Jason Smith took 38 students to Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Thousands of excited fans traveled to hear the pride of all Nebraska! The Cornhusker Marching Band put on their annual free exhibition for the public. This is the forth consecutive year that Wahoo band students have attended this event. It is the last day of summer camp for the college band, as they gear up for the coming football season.
Not only does the marching band go through their pre-game routine, but they also show the audience the fundamentals of marching. This includes a drill down “elimination” game in which the whole band has to follow split-second commands in quick succession. If they are caught performing the incorrect task they are out! The last person standing wins immense bragging rights and is hoisted on shoulders.
This year’s winner was a member of the baritone section!
The band also performed musical selections from the band “Chicago.” The Cornhusker Marching Band has a long history of excellence and this year was no exception.
