The WHS Concert Choir was honored to perform along with the UNL All-Collegiate Choir and the University Singers at the UNL Newman Center on Thurs., Oct. 11. Wahoo provided a world premiere performance of a piece composed by Nebraska native David von Kampen. On Thursday, October 11, the Wahoo High School Concert Choir traveled to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln to perform as featured guests with the University Singers and the All-Collegiate Choir from UNL.
Wahoo was the only high school to be selected for this event, which took place in the Newman Center, a cathedral on the east side of campus.
As part of the performance set, Wahoo gave a world premiere performance of the piece "All Creatures That Have Breath and Motion," composed by Lincoln native David von Kampen specifically for the concert choir. In preparation for this performance, several clinicians, including Dr. Peter Eklund from UNL, spent afternoon rehearsals with the Wahoo students, providing feedback and vocal coaching.
The choir is so thankful for the opportunity to grow musically, listen and share the stage with some of the best singers in the state, and for our community to be exposed to this engaging and educational performance.
