Warrior Band students enjoy 2014 Cornhusker Marching Band exhibition
Annual event held Aug. 22 at Memorial Stadium
On Friday, August 22, 40 students and teachers braved the Wahoo downpour and traveled to Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. Although Wahoo was getting pummeled with rain, Lincoln was bright and sunny!
The Cornhusker Marching Band put on their annual free exhibition for the public. This is the third consecutive year that Wahoo band students have attended this event. It is the last day of summer camp for the college band, as they gear up for the coming football season.
Not only does the marching band go through their pre-game routine, but they also show the audience the fundamentals of marching. This includes a drill down “elimination” game in which the whole band has to follow split-second commands in quick succession. If they are caught performing the incorrect task they are out! The last person standing wins immense bragging rights and is hoisted on shoulders.
The band also performed music from the hit movie "Frozen," as that will be their show theme for the first home game.
The Cornhusker Marching Band has a long history of excellence and this year was no exception.
