Wahoo Qualifies 7 for All-State Music & Band
Six Warrior musicians secure their place in the 2023 NMEA All-State Chorus; one will take his clarinet to All-State Band!
There are countless reasons to be impressed by the accomplishments of the WHS Music Program, including . Add last week's 2023 All-State announcement to the list!
Since July, Wahoo High School choir students have been working on the Nebraska All-State chorus music. Auditions were held at the end of September.
This choir is very select, containing members from around the state of Nebraska. These students have worked extremely hard and their early mornings and late afternoon rehearsals have paid off!
Approximately 3,000 Nebraska students auditioned for the Nebraska Music Education Association's (NMEA) All-State ensembles, and six Wahoo students were selected into the chorus ensemble! Congratulations to Ales Adamec (Junior, Tenor 2), Noah Taylor (Junior, Bass 2), Madison Hajek (Junior, Tenor 1), Tatum Nelson (Freshman, Tenor 1), Hadyn Feilmeier (Freshman, Soprano 1), Lilly Obert (Senior, Soprano 1)!
"Congratulations to our seven members selected into the all-state chorus and all-state band! This is a wonderful honor and we are so proud of our Wahoo students for this accomplishment. They worked very hard to prepare for their auditions, working around other activities and events to ensure their success! We are also very proud of all of the students who went though the process and prepared endlessly. It made our students better musicians!," said WHS Vocal Music Director Leighton Ware.
One Wahoo student was selected into the NMEA All-State Band! Congratulations Anthony Rowe (Clarinet)!
"I am super proud of all of our students that auditioned," commented WHS Instrumental Director Jason Smith. "It is a tough process and all the students that tried out grew as musicians. Anthony worked really hard and will have an amazing experience playing top notch repertoire with brilliant musicians."
These students will trek to Lincoln November 16-18 for the 2023 NMEA All-State Conference in the Westbrook Music Building near the UNL main campus, and their experience will be capped off with a concert at the Lied Center for Performing Arts.
