Caleb Groff - trumpet
Sydney Holdsworth - alto saxophone
Mattie Pfeiffer - trombone
On January 31, Groff, Holdsworth, and Pfeiffer traveled to Wayne, Nebraska to perform in the 2015 Wayne State College Festival of Honor Bands!
The Festival of Honor Bands occurs on the last Saturday of January each year and consists of three honor bands. The bands are comprised of high school and junior high school students from Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota who come together for a full day of rehearsals, culminating in a late afternoon concert.
Students are selected on the basis of a taped audition, and given the opportunity to work with guest clinicians.
Over 600 students auditioned for the 280 available seats in these select groups.
Throughout the day the students worked with recognized clinicians from the around the state. The students quickly came together to make some wonderful music.
Holdsworth was also selected to perform a short solo in one of the symphonic band pieces!
