Wahoo students earn professional lifetime OSHA Certification
All STS students now work toward certification in General Industry or Construction
Launch the media gallery 1 playerThanks to a grant from the Wahoo Public Schools Foundation, in combination with support from the Wahoo High School administration, all Skilled and Technical Science (STS) students this year will be pursuing a lifetime professional safety certification through the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (O.S.H.A.) Careersafe Online program.
The students have been working online to complete one of two certifications: General Industry and Construction.
Currently there are 72 WHS students finishing up their certification, roughly 25% of the entire student body! The program gives Wahoo High School students a great addition to their resumé, scholarship applications, and an advantage in the job market.

The OSHA Outreach Training Program for General Industry provides training for entry level workers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces in general industry. The program also provides information regarding workers' rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint.
Through this training, OSHA helps to ensure that workers are more knowledgeable about workplace hazards and their rights. Students who successfully complete the CareerSafe OSHA 10-Hour General Industry or Construction course receive an OSHA 10-Hour wallet card from the OSHA Training Institute (OTI).
